Grauenhafte Eiernote, die sich aber bald legt. Orangenlimonade, unreife Äpfel, unreife Pflaume, brennende Streichhölzer

Große Portion weiße Johannisbeermarmelade, Holzrauch, weich, fruchtig, Orangen, Pferdestall

Finish

confectionery with a very light sherry influence, oranges and nuts, apricots, golden raisins. hints of honey. after 10 minutes you can get some oak and whiffs of smoke. unfortunately latter brushes away all the nice orange aromas.

Taste

spicy arrival, the sherry influence is not very obvious. malt, slightly bitter oak and crystallized orange peel. nuts galore.

Finish

medium in length, spicy.

Comments

a nice dram, quite quaffable.

Beefed up orange lemonade is what comes to mind first. That is of course loads of orange peel and juice, This is accompanied by "heavy" honeyed barley, spice and a slight meaty touch that reminds me of leather and oxtail soup. After a while, the wood speaks louder, with vanilla and polished oak.

Taste

This is a nice combination of the fresh, fruity orange and sweet vanilla. The barley and leather/oxtail soup provide a solid backbone, whereas some whiffs of grass provide depth. Works very well together.

Finish

Gets a bit more citric towards the end, but that's OK. The beefy notes take over and dominate, along with pepper and cinnamon. Cut grass and almond complement this medium, though pleasant finish.

Comments

A solid dram with a good price/quality ratio.

Cheers! Paul

I agree with BXpress about the sulphur but its not a heavy sulphur and it is mixed with fruit peals and cold tea.
I get some orange in the background and if you let air get to it the off notes subside.
Smells more like wood notes now than sulphur???
Taste
At first I thought this was a bit flat but then it wakes up a little across the tongue, quite sweet with a little caramel, orange and maybe a few lemon notes but its difficult to pinpoint.
A few toffee notes but its all a bit lack lustre for me
Finish

Not the longest but its sweet with a few toffee notes at the end

Comments

This improved with time but its all a bit subdued for me, that said easy drinking and not a bad price either.

This one is quite heavy on match sticks. Smells too good to be cask sulphur. Quite mineral too. Some honey and caramel. Even a bit medicinal. Some raisins. Strong tea notes aswell, quite a pleasant note which kind of distracts from the match sticks.

Again it's not unpleasant, but it's a little overpowering. I know Mortlach is a sulphury spirit and i tasted the same note in the 32yo special release, but i didn't expect it to be this intense, which kind of makes me believe that it is the cask after all.

Taste

Again with the match sticks. Something meaty is there, followed by honey, caramel, white wine (oh great). Quite lemony too. Slightly drying and mineral. Gets quite spicy towards the end.

Finish

Short but intense. Very mineral and oily. A spicy/peppery after taste.

Comments

Rather interesting, yet i remain undecided about this one. I'll score it very cautiously.
