Not only does it look good, it also smells delicious straight away.
A very intense aroma that you would not expect at 11 years of age.

First there is a strong wood aroma.
The sherry remains discreetly in the background.
I can't even say with certainty whether it is fruity or spicy, the barrel itself dominates so much for me.

A first sip underlines my first positive impression. Creamy with a hint of mocha, coffee and caramel. Toffifee in my mind's eye.
Little fruit, a lot of wood.
    A bit bitter over time.

But the overall impression remains very good.
    A great malt ...

Really good sherry whisky but not heavy, rather light and creamy.

The nose is awesome, the rest is not behind
    • Nose
fresh in the glass comes pineapple, banana, sherry, fruit cocktail, light vanilla, strawberries, after a while in the glass it becomes saltier and chocolatier and through the alcohol comes the association of rum raisins.
    • Taste
peppery, sweet, with lots of power. slightly creamy, gets a bit bitter back
    • Finish
Laaaang with neat pepper and oak With water even more spice and pepper and the sweetness disappears almost completely

  4. Tomek scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Aroma: pineapples, coconut, ripe peaches, milk chocolate
Taste: tropical fruit, cherries, milk chocolate
    Finish: fruity and chocolatey
    Rating: 5.5

  5. wncvirus scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Nose: Sweet notes of sherry, apricots and a little peach mousse.
Taste: Peaches, sherry and some herbs are palatable from the very first sip. In subsequent approaches, you can feel the apricot mousse. A bit spicy in the next attempts.
Rating: 88 | 100 Medium-long finish with an apricot flavor. The whisky is quite good and has an interesting taste.

More like a wine (port?) finish than a sherry. Was it a first filling barrels? Really? Lies!!!
    • Nose
      83 83
the flavor is more like a port finish; slightly alcoholic, sharp, fairly salty; rather unpleasant
    • Taste
      81 81
a quickly leaving sweetness; replaced by salt, pepper and bitterness
    • Finish
      81 81
short, bitter, less salty, but more peppery

Somehow not a bad malt. I don't really get warm with him. The fruits seem artificial to me, which I don't like.
Otherwise very good for the age.

Even if the subtle bitterness in the Nosing bothers me a bit, this bunnahabhain presents itself as a classic and for its age quite complex and harmonious first-fill sherry malt with a good portion of oak and dried fruits.
    • Nose
Classic sherry notes of dry raisins, candied apricots, Brazil nuts and spicy oak to light chocolate dominate the first impression, followed closely by the pleasant smell of coffee roasting, leather and some sweet malt. In the background, with time but also becoming stronger, a certain bitterness, which reminds me most of Orangeat or English wine gum and not quite my personal taste.
    • Taste
The spicy-chocolate oak and a complex fruitiness (grapes, apricots, quince marmalade) come in the entrance to wonderful advantage. But the other flavors of the Nosing such as the nuts and leather and Kaffeeröstaromen are wonderfully integrated.

After the bottle was open for many months the rating from the second tasting is quit elower because of the leathery finish, almost sweaty and kind of sulphury - too bad
    • Nose
      91 91
Peach, vanilla, bananas, creme brulee - much more vanilla than I remembered
    • Taste
      89 89
Punchy, oily, creamy, fruity, bananas, peaches and vanilla again, sherry wood, and hints of leather and boots
    • Finish
      88 88
Medium long, warm, still fruity but also more leather and boots

The second tasting not even so good. Too bitter, too much acid ...

  17. Kaltduscher scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
At first fruity and fresh. Citrus fruits. Oranges. Pineapple. Malt. Nuts. After a while, the barrel influence becomes stronger. Leather. Raisins. Chocolate. However, the sherry does not kill the Brennereicharakter, salty sea air rises in the nose. Overall, the malt looks very complex and well-balanced.
    • Taste
Wow, the complexity of the nose continues in the mouth. Citrus fruits. Forest Fruit Marmeldade. Cherries. Chocolate. Dark caramel. Salt. Some pepper. Oak.
    • Finish
Long. First a malty sweetie. Then drier and more bitter. The oak spice occupies the whole mouth. Roasted coffee. Dark chocolate. Again and again a salty note flashes.

An eleven-year Bunnahabhain for good and glad 110 €. Is he the value? In my eyes, yes. You do not get the typical sherry whisky here, with the sherry ironing all the others. The sherry is rather integrated here and leaves room for other flavors. The citrus aromas, the slightly salty Bunna. I really like Malt very much.
    • Nose
Direct raisins and chocolate are in the nose. These flavors quickly make room for citrus notes and a decent portion of malt and cereal. There are pepper and nutmeg. The alcohol is noticeable but not too dominant. The flavors are nicely supported. A slightly salty note is still noticeable in the background. The oak from the barrel is also there. This is more spicy and less bitter.
    • Taste
It is slightly viscous and creamy in the mouth. Now the alcohol is a little more noticeable than in the nose. It tingles properly, but undiluted is this malt for me to enjoy. It uses spicy, slightly bitter oak. Add pepper and nutmeg. Again, a touch of citrus flavors. It gets dry easily.
    • Finish
The finish is long, spicy and bitter with chocolate and dark cherries. Now coffee and roasted aromas are added. At the end, the oak tree pushes down again. It stays very spicy after oak tasting on the palate.

Not as expected a sherry bomb - and I mean that in a positive sense. Floral, citrus and caramel with a dark fruit undertone. Milder and more honest than many other Bunnas from the sherry keg filled by Signatory. The keg does not completely kill the character and leaves a light hint of Bunna filthiness and the sea. Although the alcohol is present despite less than 50% but not too disturbing. And huih is the full aromatic and creamy in the mouth with bitter orange marmelde, forest fruit, Bunna fumes and lots of coffee grounds on the finish. Tasty full of fruit and oak - so i like my sherry bomb ^^

Single Cask Seasons is a bottling series from independent bottler Signatory Vintage for Kirsch Whisky Import. The goal of this series is to find a whisky that matches the season of the year. This time they bottled a 11 year old Bunnahabhain, matured in a 1st Fill Sherry Butt.

At first it is not particularly spectacular in the nose, one misses a bit the otherwise similar strong maritime notes, which make Bunnahabhain so unique. But they come when you give them some time. Even the light smoke and the typical fruits are there. Overall, this Bunnahabhain looks older than he is. This is probably due to the beautiful spicy tobacco notes and the noticeable barrel influence of European oak. Only the initially dominant alcohol reveals that he is then still relatively young.
    • Nose
Freshly poured you have first floral notes and alcohol in the nose, followed by a light fruitiness. Not really a typical Bunnahabhain. After some time in the glass a nice sweetness and spicy oak comes along, and then in the beginning the typical sea flavors, light smoke, dark fruits, but not quite as complex as other Bunnahabhains.
    • Taste
And even the first sip can inspire! Immediately I have Papa's smoking pipe and his sweet spicy vanilla tobacco in my head, along with a strong spicy oak, magnificent sweetness, a whole fruit basket with dark juicy fruits, raisins, dried fruit, tiramisu, tart sherry notes that stimulate the salivation enormously.
    • Finish
Sweet fruity and harsh woody notes stick longer in the throat, and the smoke comes out a little more clearly to the fore.

A very good dram no doubt but due to the hype I expected a 90+ which is it not for me but close. A nice and for its money (70€ 04-2016) an excellent choice 2016! Well done Kammer-Kirsch!
    • Nose
Nuts and strawberrys are in my nose first but also a nice fruitiness. Quite balanced and complex for this young age. It has something special which I am not able to describe at the moment..
    • Taste
Grapes, some peaches, but also some bitterness due to the young age. A lot of sherry a lot of fun :-)

Nevertheless I prefer the LMDW SV Bunna 2003 e.g.
    • Finish
Fruity medium long finish but again some small oaky bitterness!

The fruitiness is just superb! In particular the orange notes remind me on some of the best Glenrothes. I think this one will be sought-after very soon.
    • Nose
Very malty and fruity, citrus fruits, oranges, tropical fruits, pineapples, oak and vanilla notes - very fresh and rich
    • Taste
First extremely oily, thick and smooth, then punchy and powerful, lots of fruits, mostly citrus fruits, cooked oranges, vanilla and wood notes, even a touch of leather but in a good way. The body has something maritime and seaweedy and very little salty which is typical for a Bunna.
    • Finish
Long and warm, still fruity and nice vanilla notes - also the maritime notes are still there.

    Beautiful color, slightly lighter amber

Nose: Quite a lot of sherry, ripe red fruit, cherries, slightly sour plums, cassis, strawberry cream candy. In the middle nose then the typical Bunna aroma to the sea, actually rather slightly modriges harbor basin, but not unpleasant. Suddenly something incredible happens ... all the flavors change and suddenly I have freshly squeezed, sun-ripe, sicilian juice oranges in the glass. Madness, something I had so far in any whisky.

Mouth: Neat onset, peppery in the mouth. The youthful freshness fights against the sherry fruits. English orange jam, creme brulée, then orange candy I slowly suck in a medium finish. Then a touch of dark chocolate and espresso comes at the end.

Horny, cool, horny. Here is an extremely delicious Stöffchen in the glass, the youth of Bunna, coupled with a balanced sherry cask, it is hardly better, I like it, a small view through the doorstep into paradise.

Conclusion: 90/100 points - "young sherry bomb". The current sequel to the "Seasons" series by Kirsch is a Bunnahabhain and this bottling is once again one of the really good ones! Very intense aromas, quite complex for such a young whisky. Sold out again shortly after release. Link to the tasting on my blog with photos: http://www.tasting-notes.de/Archive/496
    • Nose
Very nice, fruity nose of cherries and peach. There is a slight smoke in the background. No trace of alcohol, some caramel and spices.
    • Taste
Strong, very intense start with candied cherries, caramel, toffee, nuts and plum compote. The smoke clearly shows, albeit relatively reserved in the background. Some sulfur and oak.
    • Finish
Medium-long, sweet finish with an enveloping smokiness. Drying with aromas of pipe tobacco and leather. At the end of tender chocolate.
