Nice, pleasant and straightforward whisky, but somehow rude for 10 years and 46% in my opinion.
After breathing, the alcoholic notes leave and the bourbon expression reveals itself.

    • Nose
Alcohol, pearl barley, woodiness, dust, dried grass, pollen
    • Taste
Quite rough and alcoholic, then sweet-floral and woody-bourbon, but very pleasant, honey and buttery-viscous.
    • Finish
      Sweet woody

    official information:

    1803 SINGLE MALT
    10 YEAR OLD IRISH Whisky
Guaranteed 10 years in first-fill bourbon barrels. 46% ABV
Lustrous, warm, mid-gold color. Aromas of vanilla, white chocolate and caramel (creme brulée) on the palate. Spicy entry and then a broad, silky, creamy mouthfeel. Mid-palate opens to reveal tropical fruits, cinnamon, ginger and a distinct maltiness. Long in the finish with hints of toasted oak. The Wicklow landscape is strong and memorable. When we tasted our ten year old malt ‘1803’ with its 46% ABV, we knew we’d captured that landscape perfectly.

Sweet as a liqueur, this whisky can be consumed with food rather than sitting with your nose in a glass for a long time.
    • Nose
      83 83
The sweet smell of yellow ripe apples, fresh cupcake and vanilla.
    • Taste
      84 84
Sweet, slightly honey taste with green apple.
    • Finish
      84 84
      The same aftertaste.

Typical Irish with a pleasantly grassy, fresh note
    • Nose
Vanilla, a bit grassy - later rather hayy, sweetness, pear, peach
    • Taste
some grass, vanilla sweetness, slight ginger spiciness, some honey
    • Finish
Vanilla, oak, become drier, slightly warm

At first impression, it is significantly sweeter and softer than its sister blend in the nose, also less clearly fragrant, these tones resonate more in the background. There are marshmallows, and again the apple notes, but here on a fresh crepe with sugar and a good pinch of spicy cinnamon, or in a warm apple strudel with cinnamon and raisins. Gradually a strong oak note is added, some Ritter Sport milk chocolate, honey and strong flowers, which I cannot quite classify. The palate is initially delighted with a spicy sweetness, cinnamon and ginger are at the forefront, but quickly afterwards a harsh and intensely alcoholic note is followed by a woody bitterness, which clings to the palate in the medium-long finish and retains a licorice-like finish only slowly getting a little leathery - you could have “cheered” on me in blind tasting as barrel strength.

    • Nose
      Vanilla, slightly spicy.
    • Taste
Stingy, light vanilla, the herbs also come back. Has it typically Irish: not too round, but pleasant, partly because of the sweetness.
    • Finish
      Medium, sweet bourbon finish

A very nice Irishman again, has a very own, beautiful combination of almost all divisions except sherry.
    • Nose
Beautiful floral-grassy notes, fine notes of ginger in between, moss, birch, vanilla, some sage, white grapes, and white peach, like a great Lowlander or even a little Japanese-looking, green apple, pear
    • Taste
Here, the pear at first clearly, some mango, passion fruit, beautiful honey full of vanilla and some herbs such as rosemary and sage, but the woody-mossy is still to find again and again, the mixture of herbs and flowers, while the tropical fruits and pear are a crazy but very tasty mix
    • Finish
More pear again with ginger, nutmeg, some bitter middle aged oak, dry herbs, dry-fruity-bitter, medium-long

the first impression on the Interwhisky was better, I'm probably not a friend of the Irish whisky
    • Nose
first, nothing opens, later hay and green, then comes earth
    • Taste
Round on the palate, vanilla, ham, malt
    • Finish
      medium long, grass, somehow unpleasant

An expressive Irish single malt, rich and sweet. Deliciously fruity
on the nose and palate. Well balanced with vanilla, toffee, floral notes
and a lovely warming spiciness. More personality than the Wicklow Rare
blend. Nicely complex and highly drinkable. No water needed.

I thank Irish Whiskys for the sample!

    • Nose
Fresh and fruity on the nose with lemons, citric fruits and pears.
Creamy vanilla, slightly floral and grassy notes linger with subtle
ginger and hints of oak in the back.
    • Taste
The malt starts with a delicious fruity sweetness on the palate. Tangy
lemonade, nicely mixed with green apples and citric fruits. This is
complemented by a warming spiciness of caramelised ginger oak and white
pepper. Vanilla, creamy honey and slightly herbal/grassy notes
intermingle with hints of cloves towards the finish.
    • Finish
The finish is medium long, with creamy honey and toffee. Slightly warm
and dry with oak and a touch of bitter lemon peel on the tail.

      WITH
WATER: Water even enhances the citric fruitiness on the nose with ginger
and oak coming to the fore. Floral and slightly grassy notes emerge.
Very fruity on the palate. Orchard fruits and vanilla, immediately
followed by an increased spiciness of black pepper, steamed ginger and
oak. The finish is quite short with creamy honey, ginger and dry oak.

A classic Irish single malt. If you like the grassy touch, it has its qualities.
    • Nose
In the nose immediately makes a strong grassy, strawy note wide. That should be a barrel of Cooley. The nose takes a long time to get used to this note. Slowly then comes a pear note and a little vanilla.
    • Taste
Grass is also found on the tongue. But then comes a malty momentum afterwards, mixed with vanilla pods and cloves. Herbs.
    • Finish
The finish is rather short with tart oak notes.
