[January, 2018] Just a short review if this dram really is that good (as the first rates indicate)...
The colour is old gold and the texture shows many small tears with medium fast legs. The nose is fresh on spring floral aromas and some green fruits - nice but not really impressive or interesting. It arrives on the palate with no effect at all (neither warming nor coating) but some minor adstringent moments from the wood. The taste is even less remarkable than the nose, obviously this was a very inactive cask (hence they finished it for 17 month in a sherry octave to generate some flavours, at least. By the way, almost no sherry flavours that I can find). The finish is short and adds no new impressions either. Water is not recommended as it turns the whisky extremely bitter and adstringent.
Whenever there are (octave) finishes I am very cautious because often they do this to polish up an otherwise dull dram from an inactive cask - exactly what was the case here. This is way too pricey for its quality but due to the ongoing whisky boom they probably can sell even such below average stuff...
