hmmm, difficult. the pear in the taste intensity was new to me, the Fassfracht is also nice, but overall rather light and not very complex
    • Nose
Menthol and a nice fresh nose, then green fruit like apples and pear. maybe some grapes and honey melon. but still many alcohol at the beginning. with time a few floral notes of grasses. but very light overall
    • Taste
tingling on the tongue, here comes the pear stronger and is then replaced by warming and filling oak flavors
    • Finish
The finish is then again light with the grasses and oak flavors but not so old and squat seem.

Rather less complex, simple and straightforward, should come from an ex-bourbon barrel. 43, maybe 46% vol. Notes from a blind tasting. After dissolution: where are the 62%? But this malt is very mild in the mouth.
    • Nose
fresh, menthol-minty, noticeable alcohol note. Hardly any other aromas on the nose: very little vanilla, slightly (sour) apple. After a while in the glass, pear is added. The alcohol note is still clearly present.
    • Taste
First sour (?) On the tongue, strong spicy, pear fruit is also there, to the end on the palate noticeable oak bitterness.
    • Finish
Pear and apple in the cheek, pass rather quickly, but the bitterness remains clearly on the palate.

  3. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

I find delicious, direct, strong, no frippery. To the 50 € you can give there.
The smell is so between Edradour Bourbon Decanter, Kilkerran Bourbon and the young Armstrong Bladnochs, very straightforward, not versatile or complex, that's probably not messed up, so some UA-CS single-cask, 55-60%, bourbon barrel the 10 years.
(Blind tasting, thanks to Hubertus!) OK, distillery bottling costs more, is not different elsewhere. ;-)
    • Nose
crisp, grainy, biscuit, only slightly sweet, tickles something in the nose, rather young, quite strong, probably over 46% ... after a while, what comes to light-sweet-fruity, between banana and pear compote, a little vanilla
    • Taste
very nice on the tongue, strong (over 50%, more 55%), very sweet, brown sugar, chocolate, (drinking) cocoa powder, of which quite a lot, the longer, the tart, but really bitter he will not in the mouth (Water is not so helpful, does not really make it milder, but more bitter)
    • Finish
long, hot, pepper, cocoa (but now the bitter)

  4. Glenfarclas-Fan scored this whisky 90 points Member Senior

very nice whisky for special occasions
    • Nose
      Vanilla, oak, malt
    • Taste
Sweet to vanilla, honey, slightly spicy, pleasant creamy-oily
    • Finish
pleasant and long-lasting, for the 60% vol. not very hot
