One of the heaviest single malts I tasted so far. Really fantastic!

With water it is easier enjoyable as the aromas come out more.
    • Nose
Old oak wood, leather, raisins, touches of cooked oranges, very intensive
    • Taste
Sweet heavy sherry, super creamy balsamico sauce, leathery, raisins, dried fruits, plums, dark chocolate.
    • Finish
Long and still with a subtle sweetness, just little bitterness from the heavy oak

Yes, wonderful, full, really full. At the beginning, a little sulfur in the scent, let it breathe. Also in the aroma, at the beginning a little too much sulfur, let it breathe. The sulfur evaporates. Then: No restraint in the aroma, the dram gives it everything.

Leather chocolate coffee orange, very sherried and packing a lot of punch, delicious

    Whiskyfun by Serge

Glenrothes 1980/2004 (56.3%, OB, cask #17563, 558 bottles) Colour: amber. Nose: this one starts on pure coffee and bitter chocolate, very dry and pleasantly so. It seems that this was a superb sherry cask! Goes on with walnuts, toasted bread, orange cake, fruitcake, raisins, then Spanish ham (patanegra), old rancio, balsamico, rose water, gewurztraminer, bitter oranges... What an areopagus! Extremely classy, top-notch sherry cask. With water: my, it got even nicer! Beefier, more organic... Chinese prune sauce, horse sweat, high-end sherry vinegar, best Havana cigars (unlit)... This is stunning nose.
