Whisky Reviews for The Alrik Edition 1913 Beltaine
3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.62 points
- This whisky was maturated in marsala cask. The first note on nose is dill! After aroma moves to light smoke, more woody, than peaty. After that we receive sweet notes of dried fruits, chocolate, allspices, vintage furniture polish. The palate is sweet, dry and spicy with notes of raisin, dried fruits and black tea. The finish is long and sweet with notes of raisin, dried fruits and red apples. In spite of high strength 50,3%abv it’s easy drinkable and very tasty. Alrik is an interesting whisky which hits from first sip.
- Official Notes of the Hammerschmiede: All THE ALRIK - EDITION 1913 fillings mature in the best Marsala Hogsheads and Puncheons. Due to the long maturation and the unique distillate Beltaine got its unmistakable character with aromas of red currant and ripe strawberries over strong smoked sausages and smoked bacon with fresh sea salt to fine panettone and sweet Pann Cotta.
The name Beltaine derives from the beginning of summer and marked the transition from the cold to the warm season for the mainland and island Celts.
- Great berry nose, amazing citrus finish; sadly, not much between those two. Some water surely improves the body (hence my 68 points), but completely voids the nose and the finish.
