Conclusion: 89/100 points - "sweet Charoline .. Oh oh oh .." This Bruichladdich is an absolutely sweet seduction, oily, honey, toffee, wow. Sticky in the mouth, supple and mild. Great uncomplicated malt. Not complex, but tasty and tasty. Link to the tasting with photos on my blog: http://www.tasting-notes.de/Archive/450
    • Nose
Very sweet toffee, caramel and cotton candy in the nose. Hardly any alcohol. Light aromas of ripe fruit covered with milk chocolate.
    • Taste
Very sweet, oily mouthfeel. Light alcoholic freshness, paired with an extreme toffee sweetness. Supple and silky it goes down the neck. Some smoke in the background.
    • Finish
Medium long, sweet finish. Drying with notes of herbs and caramel.

The only sherried Bruichladdich on my table tonight (see below), but you can certainly tell the provenance, what with the sea air ambience and the bright, bitter fruit hiding beneath the sherry aromas.

    Tasted with 5 other Bruichladdich: Bere Barley 2008 (84 pts.), Bere Barley 2010 (82), Elements of Islay Br5 (84), 12yo 2004 "A Dream of Scotland (82), and LaddieMP4 11yo (83).

Thanks to member GIORGOS for the sample!
    • Nose
That faint saltiness again, with added faint coffee notes and dried prunes from the sherry cask, along with a side of watermelons when given a bit of H2O. It tends a bit toward metallic every now and then.
    • Taste
'Laddie distillate, plus echoes of Mars bars and barleywine. Some coffee grounds come out with water. It's not particularly complex, but certainly a welcome change after tasting 5 ex-bourbon Laddies.
    • Finish
Medium length, with Marabou chocolate and brown sugar.

Nose: first a bit strong and fresh with raisins and lemon acid. With a little peace in the glass, creamy sherry notes, milk chocolate, marzipan, leather and fresh herbs emerge. From time to time an aroma like a pack of nut mixture flashes through in the background. Does not look quite round in the nose and is quite restrained despite just over 52%.
Taste: full and aggressive, with lots of raisins, strong pepper, bitter herbs and nutshells. rather violent the little one but the alcohol carries neat aroma over in the long finish. Here again creamy sherry sweet, nutmeg, a lot of bitter oak and a hint of chocolate with pepper
He is good and has so much to offer. On the one hand pretty sweet but also strong enough not to be boring.

From the little snifter with a drop of water.
Nose: After pouring some glue, which flies right away, then a lot of sweetness, raisins, a few smoked woody herbs, some milk chocolate, a few walnuts, hazelnut shells and ground grape seeds that whirl some dust in the nose and slightly leathery, while the Raisins are still there. Later on, the typical sweet butterflies of Bruichladdich flash through. Overall, an interesting interplay. In the empty glass, butter and a few limes are left behind.
Taste: Moderate onset with sweet raisins , candied almonds, maybe a little marzipan, a little smoky bitterness. Black pepper.
Finish: Peppery spiciness, nutmeg, raisins, slightly bitter herbs and other spices remain. Pretty long. Conclusion: Nice nose. Taste and finish were a bit too bitter for me today. First "only" 86P.

Maltman / Meadowside Blending is certainly not one of my favorites. However, I like the Bruichladdich well. This bottling is something for fans of sherry and wood influence.
    • Nose
The aroma starts with a strong sherry note. The smoke gives the sherry, however, something glutinous, which changes over time in licorice and woody notes. In addition, the nose offers fleshy, leathery, sour and waxy flavors
    • Taste
Without water, the taste is quite astringent. Strong oak notes mix with the sweetness of citrus fruits and dark chocolate. Behind it you can taste a delicate smoke.
    • Finish
The finish is surprisingly short with pepper, raisins, red grapes and some licorice.

Quite different than expected, very little smoke, lots of cinnamon and mild spices, neither a sherry nor a smoke bomb. The taste is against the great aroma and finish something off.
    • Nose
Marzipan potatoes, nougat bars, a bit of alcohol in the nose, strong wood note, wet cardboard boxes, mustard, cold charcoal, cinnamon, then only light smoke, over some soap and bath salts, it is sweeter, peppermint chewing gum, creamy candies, with Water is much chocolatier, shoe polish, leather seats and some mocha
    • Taste
tough and heavy in the mouth, a good portion of cinnamon, more creamy notes, light sherry tones, hazelnuts, cake dough, balanced and slightly smoky
    • Finish
slowly increasing intensity and bitterness, black tea, after-eight-chocolate, cocoa, in addition slightly sweet and strikingly long
