character. Fruity, smoky, spicy and leathery notes with an assertive
maritime influence. Rich, aromatic with a great combination of strength
and sweetness. Well worth a try!
I thank Douglas Laing for the sample!
A slightly maritime touch of sea salt and seaweed mingling with sweet
smoke on the nose. Orchard fruits, apricots, pears and vanilla custard
gently wrapped in peat smoke with additional hints of cocoa and phenols
in the back.
Lots of barley sweetness, slightly bitter orange peel and hints of
leather, complemented by creamy apricot jam, oak spice, and pepper.
Chocolate flavours, mixed with sweet peat smoke and tender phenols
towards the finish.
The finish is long and creamy with a lovely sweetness of malted barley
and acacia honey. Slightly warming with oak spice, bitter chocolate,
phenols and peat smoke on the tail.
WITH WATER: On the nose, the
sweetness and smokiness are a bit tamed by adding a few drops of water,
bringing lovely citric notes to the fore. More spice - oak and pepper on
the palate, mingling with barley sugar and bitter orange peel towards
the finish. The finish continues to stay long with sweet, malty, and
creamy flavours, pleasantly wrapped in gentle peat smoke.
