  1. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

PLV was or is both great, for 15 years and blended Malt, the old complacent, mass suitable, the new a bit snappy, apparently made more for the Talisker fans (is also the most common pro-argument, what you hear - Pssst, there is Tailsker in it, 15 years old!).
After some time in the glass, the two become more and more similar.
    • Nose
      Parallel tasting 2012 vs. 2016:
old: very sweet and pleasing, honey, malt, toffee, a little orange, peach compote, only very little smoke, dry, inconspicuous
new: here the smoke is clearly in the foreground, dirty, organic, in the background malt and caramel sweetness, overall more intense
    • Taste
Here are both much more similar: tasty, round, a hint of orange / peach jam, malt, toffee, milk chocolate ... then clearly the smoke on the tongue, earth, leather, pepper, the new a whole lot more intense, sharper, bitter
    • Finish
medium long, old: very balanced between chocolate sweetness and bitter / peppery, new: the bitter again and sharp after

The green label has complexity and sophistication, price / performance fits. For me, he is not very much a jump bench 10, so I can recommend him.
    • Nose
Gentle, lemon zest, vanilla, sea breeze, oak, some sweetness, delicate smoke, peach, behind a leather note
    • Taste
slightly tingling, vanilla pudding, white peach, some oak, blossom honey
    • Finish
Medium long, oily, short chilli-catch, becomes dry, a hint of smoke

  3. KayMeertens scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

Whisky fans are generally not very positive about Johnnie Walker, but I have to say that I've always found the Green Label a decent whisky and it still is.
    • Nose
Apricot, apple, vanilla and pastry. I have to admit that it has a nice nose for a blend.
    • Taste
More smoky. Apple, vanilla, malt, caramel and spice.
    • Finish
Now the peat is really most dominant. Dry, nutty. Not that fruity anymore, only some apple.

Nice, pleasing blend. Not really convincing. A bit too bitter for me in general. Nose still fits, taste rather flat.

Soft, fruity and sweet, light smoke, somewhat phenolic, vanilla, oak flavor, somewhat wet forest floor and somehow earthy, peaty. everything solid and balanced.
    • Taste
      78 78
slightly tingling in the mouth, custard with fruity peach, orange, banana, oak, honey sweet,
      Sticky mouthfeel, bitter, slightly sprittig.
    • Finish
      77 77
Medium-long finish, oily, peppery-hot, dry, only subtle smoke, bitter

  6. Alpinoc scored this whisky 84 points Member Junior

Recommendable, is quite complex for begginers like me, affordable and unique in Johnnie walker's core lineup, beign the only bended malt.
    • Nose
      83 83
Interesting nose, with bonfire from the start, nutty, a bit salty and then sweet, fruity, peach.
    • Taste
      84 84
Start a bit sharp and spicy, salty, nutty, then fruits and sweetness and ends a bit bitter, oak and smoke.
    • Finish
      84 84
Medium to long, sharp, bitter, smokey, sweet and warm.

Johnni Walker Green Label is a 15-year-old mixed malt that received an impressive 95 points in Jim Murray's 2010 Whiskey Bible.
    • Nose
Intense and well balanced. After oak and cedar wood, cut grass and fresh fruits, pepper, vanilla and sandalwood.
    • Taste
Spicy and sweet with a light vanilla, sandalwood and sea salt and a distinctive smoke.
    • Finish
Fairly long and spicy with honeyed sweetness and oak.
