  1. Koalafant scored this whisky 80 points Expert Senior

I did not like it very much, but in the end it unexpectedly became exciting again.
    • Nose
Fresh herbs over subtle fruit notes. Later hay and dried grass. In addition to menthol and unripe pear.
    • Taste
Rusk with pepper, cough syrup and licorice. Getting sweeter.
    • Finish
      Long with licorice notes.

  2. Portfolioman scored this whisky 83 points Expert Junior

excellent Speysider, the classic flavor of the Speyside, absolute recommendation
    • Nose
Sweet, ripe fruits, caramel note, overall very pleasing
    • Taste
strong, spicy, creamy, chocolate, some pepper, some oak towards the end
    • Finish
warming, delicious sweetness runs through the mouth

Slightly boring maybe, but certainly well-rounded and balanced. Not much to complain about here.
    • Nose
Oranges, but some other more subtle citrus notes as well, such as lemon peel. Stewed apple too. Lots of melted butter and Werther's original, and a tiny pinch of cinnamon accompanied by candy hearts. Attractive nose, although the hint of copper coins is less appealing.
    • Taste
Mouthfeel is more than decent, even at 43 percent. Buttery almost. Sweet and spicy notes. Dark cocoa, candied oranges, some faint dried fruits. Nutmeg and very soft notes of chili pepper.
    • Finish
The spices linger for a bit, medium in length.

  6. Blo scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

A nice whisky, without much flaw but without much interest either from my point of view.
    • Nose
Fruity Sherry, some liquorice over some yellow fruits. A small stroke of solvent too, which disappears quickly enough though. Nice nose with a touch of originality, without being transcendent.
    • Taste
A little behind, a bit watery but nothing too bad. Always fruity, then malt. Without major defect and rather simple.
    • Finish
      Pretty short.

Hm. In terms of taste, I would have estimated refill ~ 12 years and found him really good. 20-21 years and 1st fill sherry I do not notice him. Between what the taste justifies (~ 40-50 €) and what you can take for age / barrel today (100 ++), he is fairly priced with ~ 70 ¬, but rather something for people who Put emphasis on the latter.
    • Nose
Grain, malt, yeast, some seasoning (cinnamon, nutmeg), fresh hay, herbal tea, some mint, a little musty honey ... I do not notice anything from fruits, only with water comes ripe pear, apricot, mirabelle
    • Taste
quite strong and strong for 43%, quite creamy, honey, milk chocolate, some orange marmelade, canned peach, some pepper
    • Finish
medium long, dark chocolate and pepper

Less bad than feared, weak nose but taste and especially finish can rip it out a bit. Uncomplicated and easy to drink.

Notes from an online chat tasting.
    • Nose
First yeast, not too short. Then sour vegetables. And more is not there at first. 1st Fill Sherry Butts? Hm…
After a while, the acid and the yeast are gone, but somehow there is still very little left. A little sherry, yes, it may be, but so far away. A few red berries are still there - they and the yeast seem to belong to the Brennereicharakter, had on all fours red berries and at least a touch of yeast - some menthol and fennel, but that's it. After some time very clean, again the red berries with some panna cotta. Still very thin. Also not really warms better, a little bit stronger honey, no revelation.
    • Taste
Now after the barrel heights he should actually look really thin, but he does not. watery yes, but I can imagine why it was diluted down. He has 43% still quite neat alcoholic booze, so perfectly integrated is different. Sugar water with caramel, here also a bit of raspberry syrup in the mouth.

Just the last sip of dilute GM plastered, which is really quite nice, as barrel strength would have given the tears ...

Objection: the GM with 43% I found pretty lax ... a thin water

Yes, thin and watery was the, who went well too pure, but for 43% I found the sharp. At 55% one would have taken off his shoes, I think.
    • Finish
Caramel-like and not so short. Creamy, caramel, that fits.

For a first-fill sherry at that age, I miss the sherry tones a bit.
These are discreet, but not to the expected extent.

    Overall, a pleasing malt.
    • Nose
sweet vanilla, apples, pear and a hint of apricot, subtle sherry, cinnamon, nuts behind
    • Taste
spicy, honey, light fruits (apples, pears, apricot), vanilla, chocolate, nutmeg
    • Finish
Espresso, chocolate, then comes the bitter oak, sweet bright fruits form the counterpoint in the end (apricot, mirabelle), medium long
