    - very soft gentleman with a sweet note
    - even if bourbon and sherry barrels are represented, the bourbon storage comes out much better
-for about 65 € the quality shown is quite ok
    • Nose
very soft, mild, sweet, honey, toffee
    • Taste
very soft, elegant approach, slow taste development on the palate, very subtle character, soft and at the same time strong in taste, toffee, shortly before the finish there is another strong rearing
    • Finish
      short and soft finish;
medium-long, sweetish soft aftertaste, here the oak comes through again and it burns slightly on the lips

Displays a lot of typical AnCnoc DNA; less sherried than other vintages like 1999 and 2000 for instance. I actually like it better this way.
    • Nose
      87 87
Oily, fudgy, vegetal. The sherried components are either proportionally smaller than in the previous vintages or drawn from refill casks rather than fresh ones. Cask quality is still high, though, and it still has a lot of active wood in there. It's just that the character has moved away from "very sherried" and more toward "double cask" or something like that. Very mature and mellow, and it can handle a drop of water, which makes it smoother and creamier.
    • Taste
      87 87
Spicy, peppery, sour, other words: it's an AnCnoc. Here, too, I'd recommend a splash of water, which tames the acidity and dials back the spice so that more sweetness and wood oils can come out. No complexity monster, but a super competent, enjoyable, unpretentious, and well-balanced malt.
    • Finish
      86 86
Medium at best, with lime juice, some spicy oak, cumin and cinnamon.

Absolutely loved this, too easy to drink. A lovely whisky.

Smell: like a freshly cut lemon/orange with vanilla . Taste: vanilla, malty, green apples and honey goodness

It's interesting, this complete change from rather tart to sweet in the nose, then from sweet to harsh in the mouth and back again in the finish. He has what, enough to give him a punctuation in the clear front area.
    • Nose
Fairly herbaceous at the beginning, it changes a lot with time, the nose becomes full in itself, sweet hints of caramelized cereal bars meet with a tender, slightly salty sweat note. Yellow fruit pulp floats over there, not even so easy on the nose, develops really interesting. The caramel warms up to the dominant note here.
    • Taste
A very gentle and initially pleasant honey-sweet onset, before after a few seconds, the alcohol slowly unfolds its power and bring beautiful, strong and bitter herbal notes that are likely to come from the oak.
    • Finish
These tart notes dominate the finish briefly, before a sucrose sweetener takes over completely. Just before the point where it would be uncomfortable.

  13. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

From the previously tried AnCnoc vintage I was very pleased - delicious, interesting, intense. All this is also true here, but this is so far the least pleasing, very spicy and spicy and also has good Bitter notes - certainly not for everyone.
    • Nose
first creamy, vanilla sweetness along with a herbaceous-grassy bitterness, after a while in the glass merges both to a darker, spicy sweetness (sherry barrel?), caramel, chocolate, toasted cereals, cloves, some pepper ... slightly burnt and woody
    • Taste
rather strong, spicy-spicy (pepper, allspice, nutmeg), wild honey and dark chocolate, a sweetish-bitter herbal note (ricola, herbal liqueur, a bit of camillan), licorice
    • Finish
long, lots of pepper, ricola and liquorice, glows in the throat

A nice spice driven dram with quite a nice palette of aromas. I can’t detect any dried fruits from the Spanish casks so they probably havent contained any sherry. But the spiciness the bring are nice and not overpowering.
All in all a interesting whisky to sip.
    • Nose
A rich, floral, spicy and full whisky with aromas with angelica root, ginger, steel, fennel seeds, hint of fenugreek, honey, wild flowers, vanilla, toffee, malt, grains, lemon, hint of orange zest, a hint of new leather, sackcloth and subtle oak.
    • Taste
A powerful, rich, spicy and full whisky with aromas of pepper, honey, allspice, nutmeg, chamomile tea, dried flowers, licorice root, sackcloth, bayleaf, hint of salt, fennel seeds, curry leafs, subtle tannins, star anise, hint of cumin, citrus and oak.
    • Finish
A medium long and slightly drying finish with aromas of spices, pepper, tannins, honey, herbal tones, hint of spearmint and spicy oak.

    • Nose
Lemon, blood orange, light grapes, some kiwi. Grasses and wild herbs.
    • Taste
Malty with a light honey sweetness. Then drier with a little cocoa.

Very nice whisky, easy to drink, lots of cereals and citrons.
    Highy recommended
