Very deep flavor, good balance, proper fever and nutmeg coming up from behind compared to wild Turkey of similar specs these days

By the way, this is NOT the Beyond Duplication Wild Turkey. It's a completely different bottle. This is the "cheesy gold foil" or CGF. Beyond Duplication is before the CGF.

Bottle from 1990. Pours a nice amber/copper. Nose is cherry paste, vanilla, some charred oak and cooked rich sugars. Like a handful of really good bourbons from this era (Old Forester and some S-W stuff at lower proof). Mouth is more dry than the nose would suggest, with more oak and some of the nice vanilla and fruit compote coming in the back palate. Not just cherry, but condensed peach, apple, and pear jellies. Feel is a bit thin; this would be fantastic with a thicker feel. As it is it's still really good stuff, and worth grabbing for its tight, refined character, more subtle and expressive than many more expensive bourbons.

A great bourbon with a great nickname... CGF "Cheesy Gold Foil". This was bottled from the mid-80's to the early 90's. Due to a glut of bourbon during the time, many of these bottles were exported to Japan.
