- Nose 22, taste 22, finish 23, balance 22
- Instant sherry and dark fruits! Recommended by Eddie of Milroys of Soho. A beautiful after dinner dram to sit by the fire and sip while listening to blues whilst petting your cat or dog.
Below the nose, dried moscatel, cotton plants, oak trees, dried fruits and raisins.
On the nose, soft sherry with a hint of sourness from pomegranate. The greeness of the whisky instantly reminds of the shiso leaf aka Beefsteak plant you get in sashimi sets. It has that tinge of sharp bitterness and citrus like feel that tinges in the nostrils. Almost like stinging nettles in the nose? I'm getting a soft and wet mossy feeling as well, like after a rainfall inside a rainforest deep in the tropics.
On the palate, I am getting chewy bits of sultanas, raisins, and blueberries. Some walnuts as well as dried mango pieces. I'm getting a silken like feeling and a little bit of uncomfortable feeling that is developing,
Toffee, bits of pecans as well as onion peel????
Oak? Wood? Wet dog? I'm not too sure, that one taste i can't get, it also kind of feels like a molten lava chocolate cake overflowing down into my throat.
Medium finish, a sweet barley finishing emerges. There's that citric like acidity that you would get from a vitamin C tab being dissolved in water.
At the end, old wine notes are evident, that harsh like tannins that linger with bits of wood from the cask. I quite like that feeling, the good feeling of a well matured wine that will pair well with meat. Red Meat! Lamb and Beef, a steak would be so good right now to pair alongside this scotch.
- Very fruity, mango, waxy, apples and nice sherry aromas. After a while I also find a bit of toffee. Very complex.
