N: Glenfarclas-y at first. Then sweet vegetal with a spirity phenol touch.
T: Soft & prickly at first but it soon picks up. Later it beds in with sweet stuff and a secure oaky consolidation.
F: The table is fairly unanimous about banana chocolate with a little smoke on the finish. Sweet waxy.putty mouthfeel. There’s some seriously old stuff in here.
C: It has all the things you’d want from a blend: a decent palate spectrum, some complexity, easy drinking, consolidation and balance. I did wonder whether this was JW [18yo] at first but leaning more firmly towards a well matured Dewar’s. Now getting more au fait with the medals system, our table were comfortably in agreement that this was also a solid gold medalist and indeed, it won gold at the SBWM.Scores a B[-]

Made up of Bunnahabhain, Glenrothes, Macallan, North British, Tamdhu, all 40 years plus so quite a spectacular bottling with an equally impressive ratio of 4:! malt:grain.
    Day 1

    N: Fucking yes!
T: Delicious, yes yes. Dies with water however.
    F: Old and fabulous
C: It's not flawless by any means but lovely blending has this one hitting all the right spots. Interestingly, its bottled at 44.3%, the same strength as the marvellous Hankey Bannister 40yo blend WB

    Day 2

N: I had to come back for another try, its a 40yo blend on pour - amazing! Rich stuff, a little sour cream, some varnish and tropical fruits. Elegant, solid, fabulous.

T: Yep, the nicest arrival. Subsides quickly due to its fragility no doubt.

F: But its not all over yet. What occurs is a ‘wowee’ after-glow that only comes from a malt, vatting or blend with an underlying provenance and calibre born from years past. All those oak rings! Super stuff.

C: The beauty of this malt is you can spend hours analysing it and waxing lyrical like a daft poet, or you can drink the f*** out of it. Loved it just as much yesterday but Im upping my score significantly - 89, what was i thinking! 91 more like.
