Whisky Reviews for Coleburn 1968 CA

Then nose is a good one on white fruits, a touch of honey and faint hints of menthol, some biscuit notes emerge after a minute or so.
The palate is fizzy on sweet caramel but the mouthfeel is a little thin, there is a little plum and stewed rhubarb and also a drying aspect.
This is one of those old Speysiders that is quite austere at first, giving little away but the spice angle is really nice and adds a few more points.
Coleburn even amongst closed distilleries is a rarity these days so I take every opportunity I can to try it.
Another solid Cadenhead dumpy offering, not a great one but this gives a good indication generally of the Coleburn spirit and maturing.
