  1. TP-Darknight scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
      85 85
very fine and characteristic with a hint of chestnut, old leather, chamomile and green apple, with caramel candies and warm cinnamon - in the background striking cedar wood.
    • Taste
      86 86
clear vanilla and oak notes, with freshly cut grass, mineral notes and again the old leather - very nicely balanced with a wonderfully integrated sweetness.
    • Finish
      85 85
Very long finish with a complex and very elegant chestnut note, paired with some oriental fennel and anise

    Conclusion:
A wonderfully aged bourbon and personally I think the nose is excellent. In the taste, the wood notes are a bit too much for me and the bourbon is already quite bitter. Otherwise it convinces with a wonderful complexity and it has everything a bourbon needs. You can spend the whole evening with him and always find new notes. Really done nicely.

    My rating system:
    100-95: Exceptional whiskeys
    80-94: Top Whiskeys
    50-79: standard whiskey
    0-49: flops
    • Nose
      80 80
A wonderful sweetness flows from the glass paired with fruity and also spicy moments. The alcohol is perfectly integrated and cannot be felt. Creamy aromas fill your nose. Really complex. Freshly cooked vanilla pudding, toffee candy based on Werters Echter, melted butter, popcorn, plus floral and floral notes that cannot be identified and rather blend into the overall picture. Other notes are really nice wood notes, without being too bitter or intrusive, more like nutmeg, star anise and cinnamon, plus some leather, honey candy in interplay with fruity notes that are more reminiscent of green apple, pear, gooseberry and honeydew melon Over time, there are a bit more spicy notes of ginger jam, some herbal notes of dill, boiled potatoes, pickles, liquorice snails, a little shortbread
    • Taste
      76 76
The first mouthfeel is characterized by sweet and fruity notes, but the first spicy notes quickly come along with a lot of wood and tannins, spicy gingerbread, nutmeg, old wooden cupboard, dark chocolate, espresso, cinnamon, dried tobacco leaves, pickled cherries, similar to Mon Cheri, caramel candies , Forest honey, pine cones, liquorice snails, there are also slight notes of fresh vanilla pods, slightly spicy moments after ginger jam, wasabi, creamy notes of freshly cooked vanilla pudding, light spicy notes of dill and parsley, slight notes of glue
    • Finish
      78 78
Very long finish, albeit characterized by a lot of woody notes with lots of tannins and becoming slightly bitter, dried tobacco leaves, espresso, dark chocolate, with spicy notes of cinnamon, star anise, nutmeg

Aroma smells so much like Dickel I’d be surprised if it wasn’t with the way that soft grainy sweetness and light copper profile float through; Palate is warm, coppery, fruity and a touch cocoa, but heavy with the grain-based sweetness and that signature Tennessee warmth; Finish picks up a heavier, darker, sweetness that fades to a lightly sweet copper.

  5. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Strong and unspoilt, not an elegant palate, actually my thing, but somehow it could still a little rounder, "finished" taste, the over 60 € feel a little too high.
    • Nose
quite "down-to-earth", earth, old leather, cereals, some grass clippings, candy
    • Taste
quite strong and robust, keeps what the nose promises, earth, leather, wholemeal bread, strong oak, pepper, burnt sugar, some resin
    • Finish
long, pepper, resin, a little walnut, liquorice?
