    • Nose
Very sweet and fruity. Something fresh oak. Significantly barrel-loaded but not very complex.
    • Taste
Chocolate. Cinnamon. Tasty but rather thin and not very complex.
    • Finish
      Short and a bit woody.

  2. eppelheimer scored this whisky 69 points Member Senior

    Much better than the 5-year-old.
    • Nose
First, vanilla and some caramel, plus the smell of old leather.
    • Taste
dark berries and dark chocolate, later come to old leather and some pepper.
    • Finish
Medium-length finish. The pepper stays until the end.

This German single malt has an extremely intense walnut flavor. The Port Cask gives the tractor an extremely fruity Porta flavor and tastes good to me. Even if some German whisky again demonize, I think this Tecker need not hide from his Scottish brothers.
    • Nose
Intense grain notes and sweet grain immediately rise in the nose. Fruity berries mingle with vanilla and malt, a typical Portaroma now dominates the fruity nose. A subtle aroma of orange flashes, then immediately come back grapes and light-sour berries to light.
    • Taste
At the first sip, the Port Cask makes itself felt, sour berries and bitter grapes play together, intense grain and cereal notes end in a fine walnut flavor. Fruity fruit and also tart wood tones come to light. Again, this extreme walnut flavor.
    • Finish
With this extreme walnut aroma, the taste goes into the finish. The Portaromen are also reflected in the finish again, slowly the departure is pale and stale. The walnut flavor comes back to its best and lets the finish slowly fade away.

Fair tasting: fine Portaroma, vanilla, sweet fruits and berries, clear Graininschlag with cereal notes, fruity sweetness. I like it very much!

  5. Mr.Edradour scored this whisky 71 points Connoisseur

The port cask makes this German single malt interesting, but as always there is no way to compare it with a Scottish single malt.
