  1. Ostap scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

The aroma is more salty, marine, the taste and aftertaste, on the contrary, noticeably sweet. Successfully selected degree, a nice drink, a substantial whisky.
    • Nose

Vegetable, first sweet, sour peat, buttery, salted fish, seafood, baked potatoes, sea notes, citrus nuances, minerality, baked apple, sulfuric notes, tangy bread flavor, yeast, banana. Young, but rather delicate Ayla.
    • Taste
      88 88
Ash, smoky, pepper, fruit, lemon, soot, mineral, honey.
    • Finish
      88 88
Smoky, ash, lemon with sugar, fruity, sweet, long-lasting, pepper, orange, honey, slightly dried, long smoldering on the palate.

    Colour: amber
Nose: sweet, overmature fruits, oak, furniture varnish, matchbox, cake, pepper, fruit rottenness.
Mouth: sweet, oak, pepper, lemon, ripe fruits, tannins.
Finish: long, spices, oak, dryness, caramel, pepper.
Tormore is a very good balanced whisky with unique taste.

With a little water, the malt is sweeter, in the nose as on the palate.
    • Nose
Very beautiful, now I almost wrote: "typical" Lagavulin smoke. Bright fruits.
    • Taste
Come neatly rebellious in the mouth; a lot of vanilla, grapes, sweet.
    • Finish
In the finish, the oak follows the Bourbon barrel flavors.

Tasted this dram at a Scotch and Folk tasting with Jock Shaw in may 2016.

    Blam!

Other words are useless after i took a big sip of this one, kept it in my mouth for half a minute and swallowed it... (as was ordered by Jock Shaw... little sadist...)

Well, it does exactly what you would expect of a young cask strength Islay.

Medicinal and Peaty in the nose, but nothing to heavy.

On the taste more of it sweet body shows itself, with some honey.

Resulting in quite a nice finish, a bit fatty which stays in the mouth

End conclusion: Solid Islay Dram! 86 points.

  10. Bishlouk scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

I was expecting a thing not at all for my taste (I'm not a fan of Lagavulin at all), and I'm positively surprised: peat does not play by steamroller, this whisky is older than its real age, and he is quite subtle. A nice surprise, even if it is not the peat profile that I prefer. And alcohol is particularly well integrated.
    • Nose
A medicinal / vegetable peat (camphor and pine needles) pronounced, but not invasive. She remains subtle and "clean on her". Once the nostrils are used, malty malt shows the tip of his nose.
    • Taste
The peat here turns on the ashen mineral, but it is accompanied by apple syrup, honeycombs, and some sweet spices.
    • Finish
Average. The cold ashes go out slowly, while vanilla regains vigor. A dry calcined wood clings to the palate.
