I do like Arran whisky and this is not bad at all. If I was given a bottle as a gift I would be happy but I wouldn't rush out and buy one. Thanks to peatbogger for the sample.
    • Nose
      86 86
Vanilla, unripe banana, apricot, honey, tangerine and white grape. Very pleasant and floral like Lilly or carnation.
It also has that distinctive new book smell with a custard cream biscuit thrown in.
    • Taste
      81 81
Creamy and at the same time it has a chalky texture. Quite a spicy arrival at first that really tickles the tongue.
In fact it is quite overpowering but not to the fact that it completely spoils it. It just might be a bit too much for some people.
Maybe a little water might calm it. Seeing as I've only a little left I am going to continue on as is. That vanilla and light fruit notes really need to fight their way through.
    • Finish
      80 80
It's a medium finish and that spice does calm down eventually leaving the banana on the death but the banana is dry now.

Overall a dissapointing whisky. Very boring.

Nose: Vanilla and caramel some hints of citrus.

Taste: a salty maritime and caramelised raisin taste drench in milkchoclate. But somehow it really doesnt go well together, there is another taste present i cant describe wich makes it a bad whisky.

    Finish: medium boring finish

Good entry malt but quite simple. Tasted at the Wicked Whisky Compagnie Arran tasting.
    • Nose
Soapy at first, green apple, barley, vanilla, exotic fruits. Some floral notes as well.
    • Taste
Exotic fruit once again: pineapple, banana, pear, honey.
    • Finish
Quite short. Some banana and vanilla.

Spicy on the nose, fleeting note of coffee. Oak and sweetness too. Strength in the mouth but also sweetness. Relatively short. Adding water, magic trick: DISAPPEYING THE NOSE! Nothing ! I have rarely seen that. I turned whiskey into water! In the mouth, there is a little sweetness and spice with a profile rather Speyside. All this persists a little after swallowing.
    Enthusiasm 2/5

For those with a sweet tooth. Nice spice to add some backbone to the palate.
    • Nose
Spun sugar, sweet orange, vanilla, ripe pear, mild oak.
    • Taste
Sweet arrival. Sugar balanced by oak spice. Mild lemon candy, very ripe pear.
    • Finish
Sweet, spice, and long. Some mild oakiness.
