Whisky Reviews for Mortlach 1989 DT

The sherry finish is not very present, but I think it masks the very grassy side that its sister bottling (ID 62315) has and makes this a bit rounder. They're very much in the same league though.

    Nose:
Full on bourbon influence. There is the meaty side of Mortlach, but also quite some fruity influence. The vanilla and toffee are the mayor smells, but there is some sweet citrus in there.
A touch of water gives way more spices.

    Taste:
Very much a sweet fruity Mortlach. I like it quite well, there is a savory side to it, but there is also a 'dark' sweet note in it. Even some salmiac I taste.
Again the mayor tastes are vanilla and caramel.

    Body:
    Full and creamy

    Finish:
Long length. There is a very nice bourbon influence on this finish. Spices, caramel, sweet vanilla and a touch of citrus.

    Price:
€140,- is a lot of money, but quite a fair price for this quality.

    Presentation:
Don't know this was a sample.
