[December, 2016]  When I tried this baby for the first time I shouted out:  "Yessss!  There are still whiskies out there that are produced in the old style way!"  I simply adore these old style whiskies as it reminds me of sensational tastings when I started whisky drinking back in the nineties.  And these OBF (old bottle flavours) make any whisky very, very sippable even if it is not a complex spirit.

I wonder what makes the difference in production between these old style whiskies and all the mainstream modern ones.  Anyone who has an idea please let me know...

    Cadenhead's tasting notes:

Nose: Floral notes along with wet grass, brambles, gooseberries and a dusting of icing sugar

Palate: The palate is a smooth as the nose from the start Over ripe bananas, sponge cake with some more floral flavours

Finish: The finish has Medium length of the creamy fruity tones then with apricots and a touch of white pepper at the end

certainly not bad, easy good quality, needs a drop of water IMO. opens up nicely, sweeter, more grassy, more complex and more harmonious.... would say water lifts it up by 1-2 points, sweet long finish but a hint of bitterness/wood in the finish which is a bit disturbing, but not much and also not in a completely unpleasant way, but takes a point off. nice one, but had better Bladnochs. preferred the 1992 26 years, ID 115048

Unfortunately, the 25 years hiding something in the nose and press on the stamp on the finish.
    • Nose
First closed a bit in the nose. Then flowery and fresh. Warmed up something
    • Taste
Oily, velvety and round. The alcohol burns in spite of the 50% practically not at all, but the taste we still something of it coined. Easy menthol.
    • Finish
In the aftertaste comes some green, sweet oak. Still lasts for a long time.

[December, 2016]  I found this dram in an advents calendar sampled by Cadenhead. In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50
    - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 90.  My notes state a nice OBF (see review below).  I bought a bottle.

    • Nose
first floral, spicy, slightly sour, maybe passion fruit, becoming more and more tropical
    • Taste
very fruity, mango, banana, white pepper, very luscious for a Lowlander
    • Finish
      Grapefruit with white pepper
