    Very inoffensive, almoust boring... one dram is enough.

    Colour: old straw
    • Nose
      74 74
      Sweet notes of green apples, ripe bananas, vanilla. In the background there is something dirty, greasy, like old chip fat.
    • Taste
      70 70
      Apple tea, ripe bananas again. Sweet and bitter sensations seem to be at odds with each other who should have the upper hand. All in all very soft & mild, no depth in flavours.
    • Finish
      68 68
      Only a short finish with bitterness and some unpleasant, chemical fruitiness. Of course bananas again, in the end a bit sour.

    Sweet cereals with honey and vanilla, plus peaches, a little pepper and lemon cake.

  4. Alex Fridays scored this whisky 75 points Expert Senior

    Light, sweet, simple, with notes of vanilla, oak & spirit of grain whiskey

    A drop of water helps greatly to make a very ordinary whiskey somewhat palatable
    • Nose
      A light nose, vaguely fruity and floral that doesn't mask the youthfulness of the spirit. A slightly woody astringent note with a vegetal edge.

      With water - slightly better with a drop of water, less sour wood, a touch of green appleon the edges. More vegetal, herbal with a touch of vanilla.
    • Taste
      Very spirity, youthful, very bitter wood hits immediately, very fungal, similar to how i imagine 'damp' would taste. Saltiness.

      With water - the 'damp' taste disappears, broccoli, the bitter notes have eased somewhat.
    • Finish
      Medium/long, spicy, peppery, bitter wood notes. The woodiness is the final lingering note that leaves a sourness in the mouth.

      With water - medium, less sour, the spiciness is far less forceful.

    - a really surprising smell, but then
    unfortunately somewhat disappointing Irish in taste
    - a solid, good Irish "drink" whiskey for celebrations or when you need a little more without bothering with the whiskey
    - better than some old friends from the same environment
    (e.g. the standards of Jameson, Kilbeggan, Tullamore ...)
    - still ok for less than 20 €
    • Nose
      fruity-creamy, fresh, green apple
    • Taste
      typical Irish malty but still slightly alcoholic style, oak, slightly sweet, I would have liked a little more taste with the really pleasant nose
    • Finish
      short, somewhat bitter finish;
      short woody, slightly alcoholic aftertaste

    A young, pleasant Irish blend!
    • Nose
      soft, mild, fruity (green apples, pears), vanilla;
    • Taste
      gentle, mild onset, citrus, malt, vanilla, caramel, lots of sweet honey; some spice, simple, simple but very tasty;
    • Finish
      mild and short, a little vanilla sounds;

    a dram to drink with friends, not to take the head, to finish the bottle in the evening too!
    • Nose
      honeyed, woody, fruity
    • Taste
      on vanilla, the woody sweet, impregnated, on the honey, the cream, sweetness of mixed fruits
    • Finish
      simple, on the same aromas, but effective, short to medium finish

    The Dublin Liberties distillery will be open next year. In the meantime, they are acting as independent bottlers.  Whilst the Dublin Liberties website talks of craft & tradition [and oozes of flannel], the Dubliner range appears to be a [Quintessential] ‘brand’ led operation with not a glimmer of provenance – take a look at the website. Let’s see what the juice is like on either side.

    N: Grassy sweet with an unusual combination of wine, cider & vanilla honey notes - not like mead in anyway however.
    T: Soft-fresh with a bitter edge. Doesn't do much but sustains.
    F: Honeyed sweet with a bitter vanilla bite to end.
    C: A 3yo blend with a high malt ratio [60>40 malt>grain]. All bourbon casks.Scores a D
