    • Nose
What a big surprise! Very expressive nose: black tea, cherries, cinnamon, cocoa, earth, cloves and menthol.
    • Taste
Close to the nose: menthol, cherries, suggared black tea and cloves.
    • Finish
Long to very long. No bitter and off-notes at all. Creamy fruity and spicy at the same time.

N- Well armed with utterly oak-y and spicy notes, whiff of menthol derived from the strength with crushed dried leaf earthy aroma, well balance with cherry liquorice candy, toffee and butterscotch. Masculine puffy spices.

P- All wood initially, bites of frizzy tonic water with coats of bitter-sweet herbs. Spicy strength to balanced the oak/sweet elements for a decent powerful mouthfeel. Get more brown caramel and liquorice overtimes.

F- Medium, chili spicy, pungent and dry, returns of puffy wood phenol for a lightly smoky and peppery finish.

Not as fruity charms and width-y comparing to Whistlepig that we tried last year, louder on the charred wood smokes with spices and spicy strength.

Very much worth your while. A bottle will cost between 80 and 100 EUR, depending on where you look. In the States, it is just below 60 bucks, but hey, I do not come there very often. Pity, for this is really good. Thanks for the sample, Peter.
    • Nose
Hello?! What a beautiful nose on freshly ground coffee beans, milk foam, charcoal, flambéed pancakes with banana and a hint of mint. Milk chocolate. Brown sugar. A cinnamon bun. A bit of caramelized orange peel in the background. This is very nice.
    • Taste
Oily, spice and sweet on the palate. After a few moments that spiciness becomes really big and leaves your mouth completely dry. The oak roars! Think cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and black pepper. The sweetness translates into caramel, vanilla, dried coconut and some honey. This is again very pleasant, although it does not quite fulfill the promise of the nose.
    • Finish
That spiciness continues on in the long finish.

initially very very soapy on the nose, but give it time and darker notes emerge, overall it’s like a spicy version of elijah craig 12

A very good drink and interesting to know there is more than single malt alone but I don't live in Kentucky and have to pay in euro's instead of dollars what doubles the price. (P & P)
    • Nose
Oak, vanilla, brown Sugar, more wood
    • Taste
Good mouthfilling, bit oily-creamy on the side; loads of cherries in the back and the heat of pepper and cinnamon comes to the front a bit later. A few drops of water makes more wood coming out the glass in the nose but for the taste I prefer it without water because it took the bit sour sharpness of the cherries away what I liked before.
    • Finish
Not a very long finish, not a lot to chew but the heat stays for a while.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Some dusty spice, a touch of Norwegian hand cream and cocoa at first with sweet liquorice, Curaçao, vanilla custard and crème caramel developing.Palate: Fruity, then wonderfully spicy rye. Sweet liquorice again (specifically the coconutty/nougat-y pink Liquorice Allsorts that have a black bit in the middle), plenty of oak and then clove drops on the tail.Finish: Vanilla with cinnamon and apricot Danish.

  10. Donwaldorf scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

What about this dram ... except that it's an excellent Rye. It will perhaps not appeal to Scottish officials but it is a beautiful discovery that calls others. A beautiful dress, a nice nose, a powerful mouth and a nice finish.
    • Nose
At the opening we can capture some floral notes that fly quickly to give way to a nose "Bourbonesque" :). We peeled mixed exotic fruits, mango, flambé banana without forgetting the inevitable vanilla. Pleasure to rum lovers.
    • Taste
A mouth that rises crescendo in its power with the dry and alcoholic side of the rye that is felt. There are flowers, sunflower seeds, candied fruit and then at the end of the mouth cherry stones and vanilla cream.
    • Finish
A medium finish on candied fruit and vanilla.
