Whisky Reviews for Single Malt Irish Whiskey 2002 RK

3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 85.63 points

  1. Drk Neknul scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

Irish whiskys are increasingly in vogue, as anyone who observes the market for even a bit knows. However, the sticking point is often the price. In particular, barrel maturity let the Irish pay nicely. 80 EUR costs our 13-year-old Irishman, in the region is in the - very upscale - standard area in the online shops now occasionally even a Bushmills 21 to be found. The strength speaks however formally for the single cask bottling! Fortunately, the unnecessary cooling filtration has been saved as well as the addition of E150a.
    • Nose
From the Glencairn, a real torrent of sweet fruit perfume penetrates. The sweet, fresh 'apple' is so clear that one could almost assume it is a purebred calvados. Instead, the label clarifies: "Carcavelos". I'm pretty sure I have never had a "Carcavelos" storage in the glass over the years. What is that? Portuguese Liqueur Wine, Aunt Google clarifies. Port and Madeiralagerungen I really like, so could fit well. The fortified Carcavelos wine itself is a cuvée of up to eight different white and red grape varieties, and can carry the highest Portuguese quality seal for liqueur wines. Great, again a little bit smarter. Thanks, Google. So much for the theory. In any case, the intense apple aroma inspires me. I mean to take white grapes as well. Great scent!
    • Taste
On the palate, the great fruit note from the nose initially continues consistently. But she becomes sweeter and caramelier with each sip. Freshly pressed apple juice goes Werther's Original. A surprising as well as pleasant turn. The fruit returns after a long time and alternates with the caramel sweetness.
    • Finish
Very long. Again, the clear, fruity impression is changing more and more. The apples go, very light orange sweet comes. Towards the end he gets a note reminiscent of last year's High Noon bottling by Bruichladdich. Some people may think "slightly musty". A feeling like you've eaten some slices of fresh mushrooms, I mean.

  2. aphex scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

Simple not overfruity but very nice irish whisky.
    • Nose
Fruits jam, apples, pears, a few bananas and vanilla.
    • Taste
Continuity of the nose. Tart and with a pastry touch (vanilla cream).
    • Finish
      Medium, lightly grassy, pastry sweetness.

  3. tomy63 scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

straw color, rather young and sweet nose, lots of apple and pear, malt, cut grass, some pastry notes at Writer's Tears. Mouth more powerful, well integrated alcohol, very simple, tart, a lot of apple, malt, thick texture. Finale of medium length where we find the pastry side, a little sweet.
