With the 15yo in 2005 the resurrection of the Irish Single Pot Still Whiskeys took place. Initially bottled in a small batch for a French whiskey dealer, it soon became available permanently. Still a classic representative of the single pot still whiskey from Midleton. Not as boisterous as the 12yo, not as fruity-sweet as the 21yo, but fine and dignified. Of that you can always have a bottle open.
    • Nose
The nose is very spicy and voluminous; slightly pungent at the beginning. Ripe red berries work their way through the pot still spices. If you let the whiskey breathe, rose water comes to light, after a while figs and dates. The more contact with oxygen he has, the smoother and rounder the whiskey becomes. The berry sweetness pushes the spices aside with time and gives the 15 yo a fruity-fresh touch.
    • Taste
Unusually fruity onion with figs and prunes on the tongue. Oily and dense, mouth-filling and warming. Sherry and oak notes pass by. Also, for a short while, the taste of ripe melons, as you can find it (among many other fruits), even in 21 yo. Although mild spices are also found on the tongue, they are not as intense as one would expect from the nose. Vanilla fudge and milk chocolate out back.
    • Finish
Long, fine-spicy, with hints of plum and some oak.

Actually, I'm not an Irish fan because I usually have such an artificial sweetness. Redbreast seems to be an exception. I like the whiskey really well. Can you do that?
    • Nose
Spice paired with a certain freshness. Oak. Wood sugar. Clay. Floor wax. Hairspray. Again and again floral and herbaceous notes. A flower meadow in the herb garden. Over time comes fruit that reminds me of blackberry.
After the first sip, the malt becomes even more fruity. Something like red gooseberry.
    • Taste
At first much less spicy than the nose suggests. Pretty creamy. Vanilla semolina pudding. Apricot jam. Fudge. Yellow kiwi. Then the oak and probably also the Pot Still character becomes noticeable and it gets spicier. Not overly spicy, but a pleasant tingle. I call it dainty spice. Add chocolate.
    • Finish
      Trail mix. Banana chips. Licorice.

Redbreast 15YO is an one of the best Irish whiskey! It has sweet and perfume aromas with notes of raisin, apples, cherry, sweet fruits, black currant and bananas on nose. The palate is a sweet and dry with sweet fruits, raisin, polish, banana and berries notes. The finish is a long, sweet and spicy with notes of dried fruits, bonfire, vanilla and bananas. I like it very much!

Spectacular Irish, probably has the edge on the yellow spot, more refined, very Middleton.
    • Nose
vanilla shoe polish, green unmalted barley, acetone shellac, apples
    • Taste
bananas, apples, oranges, spice. Big mouth filling flavours. Woody.
    • Finish
      Caramel, chocolate

    • Nose

The new label, a robin, Redbreast uses since about October 2015. Previously, the label showed both on the bottle and on the packaging of a still. The robin was only laterally on the packaging, partly in raised pressure.
