At start I wasn't impressed with this bottle but over the time i started to really enjoy it
    • Nose
      80 80
At beginning there is sweet punch behind which is fresh, floral layer. After some time in the glass i can pick up cloves what is really interesting for me
    • Taste
      84 84
There is some maltenes, some cucumbers, some green pepper.
After some time some citrus sourness is becoming visible
    • Finish
      83 83
Sweet, chocolate, plane potato chips, coconut
      Overall dry finish

Great pot still seasoning that looks good for a little while in the glass.
Immediately the nuts, hazelnuts I would say, after a while there is a nice, mild oak spice and a portion of vanilla. At times I even had a pinch of corn. Splendid
    • Taste
      90 90
The nuts are back immediately, also vanilla and a good chewable seasoning.
    • Finish
      90 90
... which remains for a long time. Every sip is a pleasure

  7. EvilAFI scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Tasty like all Redbreasts. It is a nice in between from 12CS and 21. Oak helps balance and the fruit notes are just amazing. Wish the finish was a bit longer
    • Nose
      88 88
Sweet pastry, doughy, plums, rich & decadent
    • Taste
      89 89
Oily, sweeter, light spice, light oak, dark fruits, cherry, plums and apricots, brown sugar
    • Finish
      84 84
Plum, apricot and oak, powdered sugar, good, but not the longest finish

  8. maltandgrains scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
      86 86
Somewhat reminiscent of red wine, spicy and filling. Smooth and round.
    • Taste
      85 85
Imminent presence of dried fruits, evidence of the oloroso casks. Spicy and warming.
    • Finish
      85 85
Medium-long. Sweetness, and almost inclined to say "peach galore".

    • Nose
Deep, rich sherried irish, but still irish. The grassiness is still here, red fruits, coocked, dried fruits
    • Taste
Very light, almost seemless. Creamy, oaky, resin, dried fruits, plum, dried apricot, slight oak and toffee

  10. Bosi scored this whisky 80 points Specialist

As Serge already wrote, a whiskey between Irish and Bourbon. Both nose and taste are really complex. The strong spiciness and the dominant oak character are not quite my case.
    • Nose
      82 82
Clear wax notes dominate the nose. In addition there is honey, cereals and a summer garden with gooseberries and light grapes. After a while, walnuts are added.
    • Taste
      79 79
The taste is a chameleon. First sweet with honey, then spicy with pepper, in addition a little bit of acidity and at the end violent spicy notes emerge from the oak. The mouthfeel is always pretty oily.
    • Finish
      78 78
The finish is medium long and a bit bitter. The strong oak notes remain dominant and some caramel also plays along.

  11. Joint86 scored this whisky 81 points Expert Senior

Strange whiskey with a bad balance
    • Nose
      77 77
Dampness, fish, sour cabbage, some fruit.
    • Taste
      84 84
Plain. Much nicer than a nose. Sweetness, caramel, a little vanilla, malt sourness.
    • Finish
      81 81
Average. Viscous, oily. Feels like alcohol.

Massive oak, sherry, oily, soft, spicy. The Pot Still brings out a voluminous, almost bourbon-like brand, the barrels work great. For me maybe the best Irishman up to date.

Actually, I'm not an Irish fan because I usually have such an artificial sweetness. Redbreast seems to be an exception. I like the whiskey really well. Can you do that?
    • Nose
Spice paired with a certain freshness. Oak. Wood sugar. Clay. Floor wax. Hairspray. Again and again floral and herbaceous notes. A flower meadow in the herb garden. Over time comes fruit that reminds me of blackberry.
After the first sip, the malt becomes even more fruity. Something like red gooseberry.
    • Taste
At first much less spicy than the nose suggests. Pretty creamy. Vanilla semolina pudding. Apricot jam. Fudge. Yellow kiwi. Then the oak and probably also the Pot Still character becomes noticeable and it gets spicier. Not overly spicy, but a pleasant tingle. I call it dainty spice. Add chocolate.
    • Finish
      Trail mix. Banana chips. Licorice.

Redbreast 15YO is an one of the best Irish whiskey! It has sweet and perfume aromas with notes of raisin, apples, cherry, sweet fruits, black currant and bananas on nose. The palate is a sweet and dry with sweet fruits, raisin, polish, banana and berries notes. The finish is a long, sweet and spicy with notes of dried fruits, bonfire, vanilla and bananas. I like it very much!

  17. RichardMayston scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

Spectacular Irish, probably has the edge on the yellow spot, more refined, very Middleton.
    • Nose
vanilla shoe polish, green unmalted barley, acetone shellac, apples
    • Taste
bananas, apples, oranges, spice. Big mouth filling flavours. Woody.
    • Finish
      Caramel, chocolate

  18. pianoman scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Light and fruity. Overripe nectarines, pineapple, liquid glue. Some vanilla and coconut flakes.
    • Taste
Sweet. Bananas, peaches, honey, coconut. White chocolate, some pepper, grape seeds.

With the 15yo in 2005 the resurrection of the Irish Single Pot Still Whiskeys took place. First bottled in a small batch for a French whiskey dealer, it became available soon after.
Still a classic representative of the single pot still whiskey from Midleton. Not as boisterous as the 12yo, not as fruity-sweet as the 21yo, but fine and dignified. Of that you can always have a bottle open.
    • Nose
      91 91
The nose is very spicy and voluminous; slightly pungent at the beginning.
Ripe red berries work their way through the Pot Still spices.
If you let the whiskey breathe, rose water comes to light, after a while figs and dates.
The more contact with oxygen he has, the smoother and rounder the whiskey becomes. The berry sweetness pushes the spices aside with time and gives the 15 yo a fruity-fresh touch.
    • Taste
      90 90
Unusually fruity onion with figs and prunes on the tongue. Oily and dense, mouth-filling and warming.
Sherry and oak notes pass by. Also, for a short while, the taste of ripe melons, as one can find it (among many other fruits), even in 21 yo.
Although mild spices are also found on the tongue, they are not as intense as one would expect from the nose.
Vanilla fudge and milk chocolate out back.
    • Finish
      89 89
Long, fine-spicy, with hints of plum and some oak.

The new label, a robin, Redbreast uses since about October 2015. Previously, the label showed both on the bottle and on the packaging of a still. The robin was only laterally on the packaging, partly in raised pressure.
