  1. Gloin scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

An incredibly barrel-driven whisky. The extreme sherry notes suggest an equally intense oak load, but they are lacking in this extreme form. That does not fit together perfectly. The whisky tastes very good, but looks almost obscene in its overload. A "glutamate whisky"!
    • Nose
Lots of sherry, dry and spicy, oak, a hint of cherries, kirsch and oranges, slightly sour, with time, the spice and the oak takes a little off, behind a subtle tart honeysuckle comes to light, the sherry remains omnipresent and dominant
    • Taste
Strong onset, creamy, heavy body, slightly astringent, dry spiciness, unsweetened espresso, dry Oloroso, dark tart cherries in the background, a hint of sulfur, light oak bitterness
    • Finish
Warming, less harsh than in the mouth, even if oak and dark cocoa are the dominant elements, and eternal greets the sherry

  2. ColdAesthetics scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Very round, albeit somewhat alcoholic, somehow delicious but also somewhat one-dimensional
    • Nose
Berry compote, Mon Cherie, so much kirsch, a little oak behind
    • Taste
Powerful, very full for the%, Cherry Bomb, dark chocolate, light oak tannins, slightly burnish (alcohol noticeable), espresso and driest Oloroso
    • Finish
Long, warm, cherry & dark still remain

A great single cask bottling with impressive intensity. The barrel gave off so much aroma that the distillery character was practically completely covered. But that doesn't matter. I like it. Anyone who has tried this barrel (or one of the equally intense sister barrels 2805 and 2806) will avoid the other single barrel bottlings in the future. At least that's what happened to me. After several disappointments, I would not dare to buy blindly in this regard.
    • Nose
      Impressively intense sherry nose.
Pickled cherries and plums, strong European oak, blood orange, red currants, overripe blackberries, raspberries, vanilla, cinnamon, chocolate cookies, cherry lollipops.
    • Taste
Powerful start. Pretty oily. Not as cute as the nose suggested. Powerful oak, vanilla, cherries, red currants, grapefruit, dark chocolate.
    • Finish
Very long finish, see you the next morning. Oak spice, vanilla and slightly tart cherry.

  4. Kantenmechaniker scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

It just lacks a few percent, the necessary aromas are all there, but somehow they don't really hit me to score higher
    • Nose
Chocolatey, but rather dry sherry influence, tart, plums, quite fresh, with a little mint, a light fizzy sweetness on the tip of the nose, a little nut, a pinch of pepper, overall not a real sherry bomb, but a pleasant, possibly slightly reserved sherry nose, that's all there what one expects, but it seems like looking through a curtain
    • Taste
sweet, some chocolate, plums, slightly salty, mint, caramel, greasy, pepper, so not the spiciness, but really the taste, but also here a bit thin
    • Finish
quickly fading with sherry, tangerines on the palate, some nuts, very pleasant

wonderful barrel - of which totally dominated - I want that? not every day but here it is just fun and the price was right.

perfect blend of red berry, chocolate, dark wood and flowers, super creamy without a single mistake, it remains for me whisky, no chomped sherry

2801, 2805, 2806, 2807 have very similar profile as expected. Beautiful sherry with all dark fruits orange toffee figs leather chocolate but very balanced with fruits and sweetness. They are all excellent, maybe I like 2805 a bit more thanks to its nice sweetness.

I would say very comparable to the sister cask 2806 - probably 2806 is more balanced and this is more intense and vivid. Same  rating.

    Anyways dangerously drinkable - fantastic!
    • Nose
Intense, dried fruits, raisins, plums, dates, heavy sherry, sweet, hints of glue, spices, pepper, cloves - really good
    • Taste
Syrupy, creamy, overripe and dried fruits, good acidity and sweetness, cooked fruits too, milk chocolate, sherry wood, sweet toffees, cherries? yes, I think so, but rather sour cherries - great
    • Finish
Medium long, warm, sweet, fruity, sticky
