- Tasted this one during a Douglas Laing tasting by Jan Becker, in 2015.
- A young, fresh and very moreish Mortlach! The fresh fruits and boiled candy have the overtone in this whisky. It took some time to open this whisky up. I would advice against adding water to this one as it losses it’s balance quite quickly.
All in all an uncomplicated but yummy Mortlach.
A light, sweet, fresh, fruity and balanced whisky with aromas of boiled sweets, berries (gooseberries), apple, pear, banana, pineapple, papaya, floral tones, pear drops, acacia honey, grapes, malt, vanilla, butter, grape skins, candy cane, grass and subtle creamy oak.
A sweet, spicy, rich and succulent whisky with aromas of honey, boiled sweets (pear drops), candy cane, fresh fruits (apple, pineapple, papaya, pears, hint of apricots), berries (redcurrant, gooseberries), subtle spices (cinnamon, pepper, ginger, aniseeds) butter, tannins, grape seeds, vanilla, toffee, licorice root, subtle orange peel and creamy oak.
A medium and slightly drying finish with aromas of honey, butter, vanilla, boiled sweets, papaya, pear, caramel, citrus zest and creamy oak.
