N: a much more subdued, but still present, rubber note. Red wine vinegar, chocolate, wispy smoke

P: sweet sherry, medium mouthfeel, cola gummies, cherry jam,

F: Much sweeter than the 004. Strikes me as the px influence, shorter finish on sweet fruits, ice wine, plums, chocolate mousse, slightly nutty, balsamic

Thoughts: Much sweeter and more of a modern sherry bomb. I mostly* like the Spectrum releases, but both carry (to my taste) an off note on the nose that taints the experience. The original is more cohesive with less of an off putting nose, but also sweeter. Maybe too sweet for me with not enough dryness or salinity to balance it out. Nevertheless the original wins out.

My first Amrut and for sure not my last. Very interesting experience and the "hidden oak" was quite special in this dram. I like it and can fully recommend it.
    • Nose
Very dark color of that young baby! 5 casks in one where 3 of them are oak and 2 sherry..

The Nose: Sherry is there and brings caramel sweetness but also some cherries. I have milk chocolate as well as stewed plums. A bit of oak in the back and also some herbs and rubber. Very nice, the only critic could be that the alcohol is every now and then too intense and could have been implemented better.
    • Taste
The alcohol brings a lot of sherry and sweetness. All the nose is also in the taste besides the rubber. I have also some nuts (Serge says walnuts.. Ok why not) and the chocolate gets more intense after a few seconds
    • Finish
The finish is warm and sweet and now the oak is there which I was missing during the whole dram. The sweetness and young oak remains for several seconds and a smile remains on my face. :-)

Very tasty. A very rich dessert dram.
    • Nose
Chocolate, cherry cola, figs, oak, tropical fruit, coffee, cigars, slightest hint of menthol
    • Taste
Creamy milk chocolate, tropical fruits, leather, cigars, vanilla hazelnut coffee, toffee, nutmeg
    • Finish
Cinnamon spice, dark chocolate, tropical fruit, light coffee, nutty, mild oak

    Wow !

    Enthousiasme 5/5

    Whisky n°1398
    • Nose
Encens, sherry (version confiture de mûre), pêche rôtie. Généreux et boisé. Des accents tropicaux. Miel haut de gamme.
    • Taste
Attaque boisé - digne des bourbon âgés, puis juteux sur les fruits. Une note de rose ! Fin de bouche sur les épices avec des accents de fumée.
    • Finish
Finale éclatante, persistante. Vineuse puis boisée.

I tasted a sample imported from the Whisky Festival 2017. Luxus, this one got me, especially taste and its variability.
    • Nose
Promising scent, strong, distinctive. Honey, tiramisu, cocoa, dates, figs, boxes of cigars, cinnamon, raisins, nuts, chocolate, plums, licorice, anise wind, sweet spices. (91 b)
    • Taste
The taste is simply bombastic! First impression of a lot of chocolate sherry, but then on my tongue exploded sweetness along with spicy acuteness. Suddenly, the sweetness disappears and goes into the spicy sherry style. Cocoa, raisins, coffee. Smooths, chokes, and smoother soften wood, chocolate and spices appear. (97 b)

Medium-bodied. Very much influence from the casks on this one, but I like how it turned out non-the-less. A bit too pricy though for what you get.
    • Nose
Old and mellow sherry mixed into powerful and dark cough syrup with a dusty quality (pleasant), ripe bananas, an interesting woody zestiness, dusty liquorice, nice wood-spices with a touch of cherries and other red fruits, mellow oak with some vanilla-like qualities, some caramel, rhubarb, cappuccino, very faint candle wax, a whiff of anis, fruity malt that also has a darker note of almost burnt syrup (much like I find in many old Mortlachs), digestive biscuits, some underlying earthiness, some salt and a plethora of spices throughout.
    • Taste
Old dusty wood, coffee, cream, dark syrup, leather, candied rhubarb mixed with some tropical fruits, caramel, fresh peat from the ground, nuttiness and some marmalade.
    • Finish
Medium in length - burnt syrup, a hint of heavy engine oil (pleasant), cream, a fruity zestiness, sherry notes, a minute trace of cough syrup (pleasant), dusty oak, candied rhubarb, quite tannic (but pleasantly so) and some fresh peat.

I think this experiment worked and it was a decent value whisky at the price of 140€, but the hike is crazy as far as drinking it is concerned.
    • Nose
Deep sherry notes. Not exactly fruity, rather darker with milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee beans, some nuts, soil, notes of rum (demerara), cognac (orange zest), the fruity side expresses itself with burnt prunes and raisins.
    • Taste
Tastes lighter, there is a hint of rubber, burnt sugar, tons of coffee and cocoa. The fruits are a bit more pronounced with oranges, prunes, raisins and dates. It's slightly tannic, but not overwhelmingly so.
    • Finish
Medium long, hints of truffle, coffee and this nice burnt prune note linger for a while.
