Whisky Reviews for Strathisla 2005 GM

14 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 83.08 points

  1. Rosebank88 scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Beautiful flowery-sweet start. Slightly sugary, biscuit-like maltiness, caramelized apples, rape-honey, but also herbaceous reflections of riccoco sweets, lemon sparkling, Williams brandy, maitriebe and malted coffee.
    • Taste
Soft and flattering. Malt-like spice, floral notes, oak, some hay, lemon sparkling and ginger.
    • Finish
Full and long after malt coffee and cocoa dust.

  2. Abadon05 scored this whisky 80 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Sweet, honey, pear, mirabelle, a bit of alcohol
    • Taste
Straw, honey, milk coffee, a certain bitterness
    • Finish
The bitterness stays, as well as a seasoning added and again the pear, honey and some cinnamon.

cheap yet good enough as a sipping whisky, nothing spectacular to rave about, but does well for its price
    • Nose
malt, bread, sweet sherry, red fruits, somewhat floral, sugars, grass, honey, nuts, some citrus, sawdust
    • Taste
sherry with a touch of sweet and sour, stewed fruits, honey, fresh light grass, dry, black and white pepper, cinnamon, spices, tannins, wood, tree sap, honey
    • Finish
short to medium, tangy fruits, dry, peppers, grainy, honey, citrus, grass and nuts at the back with a touch of fruity sherry and malt

I am not a fan of the nose, I find that the aromatic plant side takes up too much space. The mouth, on the other hand, is pretty cool like "daily dram" without asking any question.
    • Nose
Light and fruity (juicy pear and red apple). As soon as the whisky is turned in the glass, strong coriander springs to the nostrils.
    • Taste
Very accessible, sweet, but balanced (the reduction is not aqueous). White fruit syrup, a hint of vanilla honey. A pinch of bitter spices after a while.
    • Finish
Short. Bitterness turns to dry wood. A spicy residue stays a moment.
