Whisky Reviews for Craigellachie 2002 Wy

  1. LDB scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

A really excellent "Barrista´s Dram" (the name, haha...)
Full of savoury notes and with that mocca touch that matches the beefy distillery character very well. Astonishingly long finish for a 13-year-old. Excellent cask selection. Nice one!

Quite unusual stuff here. Typical malty ethereal distillery smell in the nose which I find straw like, though it's just the smell of ethanol. A dry and pleasantly bitter fluid and aftertaste, not unlike a faint espresso. Raw hazelnuts. Like I said, quite unusual.

  3. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

Funny malt with sulfur, milk coffee, toffee. Tart, subtly fruity, very creamy.

  4. ColdAesthetics scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Horny part if you like coffee (which does not even apply to me)!
    • Nose
Tobacco from the pipe, old leather, mocha / espresso, somewhere bitter orange in between, raisins, black walnut, old it does not look, but extremely edgy / bitter
    • Taste
Coffee, indeed! Mocha, black bread with raspberry jam, olives, touch of bitter orange, leather, dried ham at the back
    • Finish
Medium to long, dry olive + coffee and grapefruit / orange peel

  6. MaltyMillionaire scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

A malty number, if that's your style. This one is soft on the palate and finish but has depth and complexity.
    • Nose
Very malty. Nutty, mild citrus, faint red fruit, honey notes.
    • Taste
Malty, soft, and sweet arrival. Malt, honey, citrus, orange pith.
    • Finish
Soft finish with honey and malt notes. Soft spice, bitterness, and medium length.

  7. Torfding scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
an interesting nose; Fruit cookies, nuts, I notice my leather, a bit musty, dusty and dry, has something of a basement or storage room
    • Taste
cold coffee, chocolate (with chili and pepper), cereal, something fruity that reminds me of a kind of fruit paste (if anyone knows what fruit leather is, that's what I mean)
    • Finish
warm and long, reverberating especially on the tongue; Orange, wood, a bit bitter
