Long and lingering aftertaste, a full body and doesn't taste like a 56.5% ABV at all!

Tasted this Lappyy at the first Whisky Tasting Festival (WTF) in Utrecht, August 2016, at the whiskybase stand.

What i remember was that this one is compared to the standard OB Laphroaig 18 had still quite some peaty iodine kick, where the OB 18 is already quite calmed down. The higher alcohol is perhaps also part of that, but with regard to peaty impact it was closer to a 10yo CS for me. Next to that it delivered quite a delicate yellow fruitiness due to its long maturation.

High-class feminine Laphroaig with an Irish side. A more expressive nose would have granted it an easy 90+ ... but I'll stay on 89 for now.
    • Nose
Quite shy, just as many an "old" Islayer coming from a refill bourbon. Elegant, without anything too loud. Spirit-driven, which can't be bad news. Exotic paraffin, wet mossy rocks, freshly washed clothes, chantilly cream, mineral oils, some light notes of briny lemons, banana's and band-aid. Pure, in a word. But a bit too shy, sadly.
    • Taste
Excellent. Alcohol is very well integrated, and the profile masters the fresh, exotic, acidic fruits of mature Laphroaig expressions : young mango, pineapple, lime juice and maybe maracuja and jasmine ... but still retaining some solid Islay DNA with touches of camphor, clean rubber (think a new bicycle inner tube, not a burning tire).
    • Finish
Rather short but clean and coherent on the same notes of lemon pie, clean "meadowy" peat.
