- The nose is wonderful and has a great development. All the key notes come in many dimensions and variations, that change one after another. Fantastic nose. Many malt whiskies can be envious of this. It just needs time to open up.
The palate just feels too light. If it were at higher strength this would have been a killer whisky.
I had this together with a White Horse from 1974 and it beat it hands down - mostly because of its complex nose. The WH was nicer in the mouth but was sort of mono-dimensional on the nose with the peat totally lacking.
Peaty (a mellow peat), malty, lots of honey; green apple.
Sweet and fruity; light; fudge. Just a hint of spices.
Short to medium fudge and slight pepper. After water also peaty.
