On the nose it smells like unripe green fruits, apple and gooseberry mainly.
If you leave it for a few minutes or so it is then that you notice some peat, a coastal peat and it is very close to some old vintages of Caol Ila I have tried, maybe that distillery is in the mix?
The palate neat has plenty of peat mixed with some white pepper, like a Talisker but without as much of the sherry.
The thing I like about this is that it is easily drinkable neat and you do not get that very often with a whisky of 57% abv.
It you add water there is more fruit and a wine gum fruitiness about it, the balance is pretty good.
The finish is what I would call soothing, with a menthol honey note at the end.
Good stuff, just a little less depth of profile than the 8 year bottle WB ID 37844, but still very good.

http://kaypingers-whiskyblog.de/frontend/fullarticle.php?id=289 Color: corn yellow Nose: Green gooseberries, leather and old cardboard in combination with a strong alcoholic spiciness, with leading salt. Good but otherwise happens in the nose relatively little. Taste: Hot, alcoholic, spicy and still sweet. Fresh notes of eucalyptus and slightly tart herbs with a clear hint of wood. Dark notes of liquorice and mocha - getting more and more bitter. Finish: long and bitter-sweet! Honey, Turkish mocha, espresso, wood and green nutshells 87 points N: 88P / G: 89P / F: 85P
