- Sweet spices, cedar, orange, varnish, toffee, great aged strathisla
- My good buddy strathisla impresses me again
oh mama, christmas cake, caramel, nutty spice, some menthol, this is beautiful...Definite notes of chocolate covered rum raisins, well integrated oaky spice. fruit basket with raisins and stewed apple/pear
really nice spice, not over-oaked to me but its there, it has to be. some licorice notes, bordering between black and red with bitter and sweet, Red apple sprinkled with cinnamon, milk chocolate . The bitterness might be the old oak influence, its not unpleasant just interesting, but loses a point for me
that menthol/mintiness hangs around, really nice long finish, warming, for 43%. must be the age, sweet, very smooth. Milk chocolate says hi, along with fruity peach notes? Something fruity. Fantastic
yes sherry, what else?
fruity, like a condensed distillate, some dryness
- Definitely one of my favorite 70s GM bottlings, has nice variety and the bright notes in between fit in well.
Dark hearty than expected, plum compote, about 70% chocolate, not completely bitter, but also not just milk choc, marzipan, almonds, burnt butter, caramelized popcorn, apricot, baked apple, gingerbread, cinnamon, nutmeg, camphor, saffron, hint Lavender, fennel, a little bit of dates to the rear
Plums, the chocolate as described above, but surprisingly also beautiful, light sweetness, apricot jellies, honey, vanilla, toffee, vineyard peach, apple rings, cinnamon, nutmeg, saffron, camphor, rosemary, dates, cherry pits, white raisins, blood orange, marzipan
Long, velvety, chocolate cake, some coffee and blood orange, dark malt
- Tasting Notes From The Producer
Nose: Rich perfumed oak influences with a subtle sweet Sherry edge, rum and raisin. Hints of strawberry and marzipan are also present.
Palate: Hints of dark chocolate and hazelnut. Dried apricots and prunes with a lingering charred oak edge.
Finish: Long, sweet and smooth.
