    Tomatin 1980
    (47,4%, OB 2008, cask #994, 172 btl.)

Nose: fresh start. Fruity notes (peaches, cherries) with marshmallow. Lovely passion fruits. Citrus. Some unripe banana and pineapple. Lots of vanilla. Gets a bit creamy after a while, absolutely delicious. Liquid dessert. Mouth: basically the same story with lots of fruits and notes of bubblegum and honey. Not far from some Irish profiles, but more complex I would say. Added hints of pink grapefruit. Unripe mango. Tropical but without the warmth or the sweetness that goes with it. Fresh, fruity, malty (hints of cereals) and slightly mineral. Finish: not too long. A bit more spicy notes (whiffs of ginger and cinnamon) and certainly sweeter.

A very nice Tomatin. Not cheap (around € 180) but really beautiful. Samples are available at Whiskysamples.eu

    Score: 89/100

    Tomatin 1980/2008 (47.4%, OB, cask # 994, 172 bottles)

    Color: straw yellow
    Nose: Very floral and fragrant.
Attack on malt, cake, spring flowers, heather and aromatic herbs.
The nose then evolves towards honey and fruits, apple and grape must.
On the 2nd nose notes of vanilla and citrus appear.
Palate: The attack in the mouth is much more marked by sweet fruits: peach, passion, citrus and a hint of pineapple syrup in the final.
    Superb sweetness, a real treat.
The palate then evolves towards honey and beautiful notes of cereals.
The finish is quite long on the fruits of the palate mixed with spices.
    A real spring dram
    Rating: 90/100

A very pretty whisky fruit ?, well? Balanced? whose alcohol carries the flavors well. Not perfect, but very nice.
    • Nose
A real little fruit bomb, exotic with the first nose (mango, pina colada) before moving towards sweet citrus (orange juice? Sorely acidul?) And fruits of the orchard (p? Che, pear) sprinkle vanilla sugar ?. The aeration of the veil floral notes, spring as well as vegetable and cereal. Exoticism comes back at times. The nose is pretty player.
    • Taste
Fruit? and frankly exotic? the attack, on the mango. Also peach, and the orange sweetly acidulated. The palate then develops on spicy (ginger) and vegetal notes (slight bitterness of cut grass), blurring the fruit? initial without erasing it.
    • Finish
Quite long, fruity and acidulous, it nevertheless gains in bitterness over the duration.
