N- Admirable strength at 46% for a core releases after tasting too many
of the standard 40%-ers, and the different are obvious and filled with
qualities. Very farm-y with earth and peculiar peat-polished notes,
along pomelo, toffee and green grass, slightly sharp zesty citrus,
lime-y, fragrant wood. Love the sustaining crispness that remains throughout. Fresh and broad. Rusty mineral notes at the tails. P- Peach, sourish honey, spicy and polished wood. Charred notes and
subtle earths, some sweet peat. Good body, firm and well structure. F- Long, rich and complex, elegantly spicy with refine spirit
aftertaste. A 'generous' entry level bottling, excellent quality for the
    value.

Part of a BFYB starter kit. Just to rediscover some malts I might have looked for a while. Big plus here is that it’s bottled at 46%
    • Nose
Subtle nose. Spicy flavors getting more intense over time. But it remains very subtle. Fruity in like oranges, pear and green banana. Pleasant but this is a little too light for me to be honest.
    • Taste
Initially light, rather thin and focuses on giving mild spices mainly. It has some dryness of licorice and gives sweetness in like honey. No surprises here. I love refill cask profiles but this just doesn’t seem to cut it on the palate. Too light I guess. I can see why they choose to bottle at 46% and it does give this a start but it is still a bit dull. It gets more body over time but the amount of flavor is limited.
    • Finish
This is the strongest part definitely. A long and dynamic finish completely surprises me after a quite dull experience so far. Lots of flavor and development here and very pleasant! I get a lot of toffee, caramel, vanilla, nutmeg, sour apple and kiwi. There is a lot going on here! For the finish alone this is already worth buying.

A summer dram for a reasonable price

Floral, fresh & fruity. I get pear, citrus, menthol, honey and vanilla. This is a pleasant nose.
    • Taste
      83 83
Quite aggressive arrival. Sharpness from the alcohol, spices, tannins. With some water and enough time in the glas (>30 min) it gets more pleasant.
    • Finish
      84 84
Sweet in the beginning, with barley, honey and fruits. Then spicy and dry in the end.

A simple but not easy dram. This is a relatively young well-made spirit-driven whisky.
    • Nose
Undiluted: Sweet sensations: Waxy. Some vanilla, a little oranginess, pleasant spiciness (clove?). Quite simple but enjoyable.

Diluted: Fruitiness softens, and vanilla fades. A complex spiciness appears.
    • Taste
Undiluted: Quite hot at 46%. Peppery, ginger. Drying. The sweetness is masked. Needs some water.

Diluted: Spiciness dominates. The youthfulness of the spirit is clear, and you can feel that it is of very good quality. Some vanilla and wood present.
    • Finish
      Dry, pleasant oakiness and spiciness.
