Whisky Reviews for Glendronach 1995
8 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 90.11 points
- Sherry, dark chocolate and dark fruits, plus a few spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom, topped off with honey and ginger! hot!
- In the beginning he is a bit reserved and curt, so I give him a little time and 2 drops of water (drops, no dilution, etc.) to elicit the variety of flavors.
Conclusion: All in all, a great drop, sometimes a change from the rather sweet embossed PX bottlings. The spicy tingle on the tongue, however, must be able to be interpreted correctly and certainly not everyone likes. Otherwise a fine drop to have January 2015 for about 150 €. Of course, not very cheap, but you also get something offered. I vary because of the hefty price between 89 and 90 points. However, I give him the 90 points, because he deserves to crack the 90 points mark!
The spiciness of the Olorosso barrel comes out very clearly, light sweetness characterized by nuts, coffee aromas, a hint of raisins - but without the distinct sweet, overall very "dark" and full
The clear spice is here again in the foreground, to chalk the Malt neat on the tongue, but not only on the tip of the tongue but wide area. However, this is not as alcoholic sharpness or similar. to perceive, because this is wonderfully involved. In addition, the subtle sweetness of nuts, nutmeg, the drops occupy the cheek area with a light fur, Dries the mouth a bit - but also stimulates the salivation.
Pretty long, especially the spiciness remains on the palate. When you run your tongue over the cheeks in the mouth, the nutty sweetness comes back a bit.
- A great malt from Glendronach! I like it sweeter and if it is not as dry as this one but it is something special and therefore quite nice!
Great Sherry Nose with some black pepper notes and orange soft cake biscuits
very dry and not too sweet. It is more pepper than fruits but still nice and good balanced. The Oloroso sherry is present and showing the excellent quality of this cask!
Long and dry finish with cocoa powder, coffee and milk chocolate. Some oaky bitterness as well but still very nice!
- Interesting and intense, great barrel!
Nuttiness, chocolate chips, Black Forest cake, mint, bakery, dark toffee and some coffee
Strong and spicy, with oily, red & black pepper, then full load of cherries and berries, chocolate, coffee, caramel and honey
Long, oak and coffee are left behind with berries
- despite the pretty bright color for a Dronach a real board. Sherry meets Spice, but always enjoyable, not like the young wild ones. Had the first time really nice noticeable coffee aroma in the mouth. Oberliga! PS: no water!
Immediately intense honey-beige caramel notes, in addition Black Forest cherry with high chocolate content. Very light nuttiness from the Oloro barrel. Rear more bread-like spiciness and light peppermint that completes the whole fresh. With a little water he loses something becomes almost grassy.
quite intense onset, slightly spicy, immediately dark pepper, slightly burnt bread crust, then espresso with neat caramel sugar. It follows more fruity cherry cake with cream. Gorgeous! Less intense with water, a bit bitter. Better without.
long, dry, dark chocolate.
- Color: rich polished copper
Aroma: Fresh oak and citrus peel blend with dried dark raisins, prunes and hints of garden mint.
Taste: A vibrant, fresh, spicy palate develops into a robust, classic sherry character; dark steamed fruits and muscovado sugars quietly supported by dark chocolate and ground coffee beans.
