    I could just drink this all day long. Who the f--- cares what distillery this is from, as long as the result is this delicious.
    • Nose
      Fresh varnish and oak shavings show off the age of this whisky, but there's plenty more on offer here. I love the baked apples and stewed pears, as well as the subtle touch of honey. There's a whisper of galia melon too. Finally, it is somewhat waxy, and has a hint of coconut oil as well.
    • Taste
      Lively and fruity, think grapefruit and peaches, with beeswax and honey to back it up—and to sweeten it a bit. Some sawdust in the background, as well as a whisper of coconut.
    • Finish
      Slightly spicy to begin with (nutmeg, white pepper), but lingering sweetness and waxiness.

      Boenwas. Then hay and grass. A touch of caramel is perceptible.
    • Taste
      85 85
      The caramel comes up with vanilla. The hay goes to the background. Something butter comes forward. Pepper to finish with.
    • Finish
      87 87
      Medium to long. A sharp pepper flavor is left behind.

    Tasting Notes by Adelphi;

    1 of only 130 bottles from cask 1753

    This is the best example of the distillery’s make that we have ever encountered. It comes from a first fill American barrel, so has only produced 130 bottles. The colour is deep amber, with chestnut lights. The nose is celestial: stewed plums and baked apples stuffed with bramble jelly, then a light coconut, sanded hardwood in the sun, with fresh varnish. Wonderfully complex! A drop of water reduces the fruity scents, but brings up sandalwood and candlewax –mellow aromas revealing the whisky’s age. The flavour at natural strength is sweet to start, drying out with plenty of oak lactones (i.e. coconut), and this is replicated at reduced strength (don’t add too much water), although less sweet: dry tannins, with lingering coconut in the long finish.
