The sherry hogshead seems to have very little impact on this whisky. The sherry cask influence is ever so slightly present in this dram. This has been quite an inactive cask imho. It comes through as an inactive bourbon cask rather than a sherry hogshead. For a 24 year old dram I expected a bit more character and complexity in this dram. All in all it’s a pleasant but a too subtle dram for my taste.
    • Nose
A subtle, rich, sweet and balanced whisky with aromas of apple peels, candied ginger, honey, hay, dried flowers, damp cellar, golden sultanas, maple syrup, sweet backing spices (clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger), angelica root pear, peach, grapes, grape seeds, white wine, vanilla, cousin, lemon juice and subtle oak.
    • Taste
A sweet, mouth filling, spicy and rich whisky with aromas of Aniseeds, honey, subtle mint, maple syrup, pepper, ginger, allspice, backed banana, caramel, icing sugar, golden sultanas, apricots, maple syrup, lemon zest, lemon juice, chili pepper, a hint of tannins and subtle oak.
    • Finish
A medium, warming and slightly drying finish with aromas of malt, maple syrup, pepper, honey, pear, golden sultanas, hint of tannins, spices and subtle oak.

Not bad, especially on the nose.
    • Nose
The nose is immediately seductive, all in all classically speysider but with this little something more. A trace more than perceptible of smoke or phenolic residue. A complexity a little strange and super fun. Very elegant and racy, a lot of vanilla and candied fruit. Angelica? A vegetal touch anyway. Dried fruits. Sap.
    • Taste
The taste is a notch below the nose but we find all the elements present on the nose. A slightly hot and peppery side makes the development a little rough. This is easy with a few drops of water.
    • Finish
Malty and fruity with a little farmy back.

A nice Tomatin, elegant and fine. Balanced, and very well done; while staying in the typical and classic Speysider. A refill Sherry (the label indicating Bourbon Hogshead is wrong) or the leg of Sherry is imperceptible.
    • Nose
A beautiful vanilla that coats grapefruit, yellow apple, and plum. A very slight fruit dust in the background. A fine and elegant nose.
    • Taste
Round, sweet, and vanilla on fruit compote. The sweetness is very present, melting in the mouth; a candy.
    • Finish
Long. Some sweet spices tingle at the back of the throat. Dry, fruity dust. Grapefruit drops mix with this dust.
