Whisky Reviews for Talisker Neist Point

A good whisky, he looks quite young, but not too young. He is very soft and moderate and could thus be an interesting addition to the standard range, but he would have to move down the price significantly. The older Talisker offer much more, especially in the price / performance ratio. For me personally, he is a bit too pushy or sweet.
    • Nose
Distinct smoke and sleepy feet are the first impressions. A strange nose! Reminiscent of the air in Pozzuoli, a town in Italy near Naples, it lies almost like a cork on a volcanic bubble, sulphurous vapors occur there directly through rock crevices. The height above sea level changes here several times a year. After a while, the nose normalizes, the maritime talisker notes emerge, and a bit fruity towards apples, apricots and limes. Later also caramel, which warmed up even more clearly. The focus is shifting steadily between sweet fruity and salty mineral. The alcohol is palpable and sometimes tickles quite clearly in the nose.
    • Taste
The taste is a typical Talisker, quite strong sweetness with earthy and rocky notes, smoke, some salt and the developing peppery pungency, which is framed in this case, however, of some alcoholic sharpness, which, however, knows how to hide well.
    • Finish
The finish is medium to long, the focus is on the earthy notes. The sweetie has a slightly watery touch here. In the end, a tender, sweet smokiness with a slightly soapy sensation on the tongue will last the longest.

Delicate smoke, fine enough for a Talisker. Is it vanilla behind? No pepper on the horizon but a nice balance found in the mouth between moderate peat and a fruity. It is soft. Final rather short and discreet. Easy to drink.

    Enthusiasm 3/5

Not what you want from a Talisker.
Too young by far, you notice the lack of maturation on both nose and palate. I was extremely underwhelmed by this malt after several tasting sessions, just my personal take on it, but I can not really understand the positive echo it has received.
Besides, this Talisker is massively overpriced. I just wonder when the hype will decrease. Even remotely comparing this whisky to Talisker 18yo (let alone the 25yo) is absurd. You might just as well buy Laphroaig Select.

The nose is not particularly memorable. A whiff of wet wood, smoke plus some fruity aromas.
    • Taste
      76 76
Very thin mouthfeel, and unbalanced as well.
    • Finish
      77 77
Okay, there is the pungent chili catch, but it dries out incredibly fast, sweetness fades too quickly

Sweet. Very cute. And only on the edge of a Talisker. He wants too much. This is not for me a € 100 - or even € 70 whisky and does not look like single malt, but very designed, "blended". Sweet, sweet, but somehow like a dessert - small bowl OK, too much becomes disgusting. What kind of people who spend over 100 € for Johnny Blue or Dalmore King Alex and do not really like a Talisker, but would like to have a cool island whisky on the shelf.
    • Nose
Pepper and salt, in the beginning a slight pinch of hospital, then getting sweeter, honey with herbs, cooked peaches, a little cinnamon
    • Taste
mainly sweet, orange marmalade, peach compote, cloves, a lot of milk chocolate, some pepper, but not particularly hot (after a Clynelish and a Bladnoch), the smoke is mostly in the chocolate, possibly a very light fleshy note
    • Finish
medium long, sweet, some soil, some pepper ... the sweetness stays long

pleasant and full of character to drink
a good Talisker mmh, I like them indeed If you just want to drink a delicious Talisker quickly, the NP is at its best, the whisky tastes good
But if you are looking for a longer whisky to dream and take off, you should choose the 18y or the DE
    • Nose
      a warm soft fruity nose
      Apricots with sea and salt
      dry herb meadow in summer
      some wood with fruit
    • Taste
      soft start
on the tongue develops the Talisker CC
spicy, smoky, slightly floral / soapy on the palate
      then sweetness flows
      Carnation, wood, malt
      tingles on the tongue
      it remains smoky maritime
      Salt and sea water
    • Finish
      slightly apricots with brine
      a little damp and spicy
      slowly, even weak Fassaromen come

Now this is a hate it or like it whisky. I like it despite it being young which is recognisable in the taste but it has much to discover when you give it a drop of water and some time to develope. For me the mouthfeel was the best of this dram. How sweet this is, I like this dram.

Uncomplicated and relatively tasty and sweet Talisker. As with almost all bottlings from this distillery, this bottle only reaches its peak when it is only half full and has been able to breathe for (at least) several months.
I prefer the Distiller's Edition, but see this bottle for Talisker beginners as a good alternative to the 18-year-old if it is not available.
    • Nose
      85 85
The alcohol is well integrated. Delicate smoke, orange juice, vanilla, white pepper, a little lemon, white oak spice, a little passion fruit and a sea breeze. Amazingly tame and harmonious.
    • Taste
      86 86
First the Talisker-typical chilli catch. Alcohol is barely noticeable. Vanilla, orange, little fresh-looking smoke, passion fruit. Slightly perfumed note that can also be found in the 18-year-old.
    • Finish
      85 85
Medium length. What remains is a strong honey sweetness with a little smoke, vanilla and orange.
