Whisky Reviews for Strathisla 1973 GM

3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 90.50 points

  1. ColdAesthetics scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

A worthy and very exciting end to a vintage Strahisla tasting, super integrated power, great finish and one of the very few where the nose gave a correct view of what was to be expected. Great malt!
    • Nose
Very special for a Strathi, toffee and green exoticism, still unripe mango, papaya, young plums, gooseberries and beautiful malt, sweet cereals, honey, camphor, corn
    • Taste
Gains more and more power in the mouth and yet incorporates the> 60% top, quince, plum, lychee, banana, papaya, sweet malt, caramelized popcorn, olives, paprika, mixture of green notes and light fruit, marzipan, camphor, chamomile , Vanilla, cream
    • Finish
Long, warm, great, marzipan, almonds, waffles, butter, papaya, green tea

  2. xandi37einhalb scored this whisky 92 points Expert Junior

I was able to taste this dram during a rarity tasting, and I also took a sample home with me.
    Color: light gold
    • Nose
Caraway seeds, mange, pineapple, nail polish remover, anise
    • Taste
very strong start, sparkling, apple, peach, honey, ribisl, gingerbread
    • Finish
      long, strong, currant, pineapple, citrus

  3. Calmar scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

A vigorous and powerful whisky, spicy, caustic, well balanced, rather young, but the base is covered with a barrel, the development becomes more brutal, mineral-metal notes begin to dominate.
    • Nose
Open, dry, standard sherry beginning - noble wood, furniture lacquer, raisins; burnt jam, earthy notes, pu-erh, caustic mineral-metal shades - grinding stone, metal dust, drying plaster; pipe tobacco, old leather goods.
    • Taste
Powerful, rich, oak, a lot of oak, but it is harmoniously woven into the overall picture, a strong pepper wave, furniture and lac notes, sweet, creamy and caramel motifs, coffee, chocolate, a little sulfuric-metallic shades.
    • Finish
Spicy, invigorating, dark beer notes, burnt rusks, coffee, raisins.
