A huge sherry. Beastly and highly enjoyable.Good swimmer by the way. Another case when it's not really changing the taste (maybe a tad more sweet) but taming the beast.

    Tasting notes from october 2016.
    • Nose
Dry sherry nose. Dried fruits, coffee, slightly sulphury, tobacco, leather, gingerbread, mentholated notes.
    • Taste
Blam ! So punchy and heavy. Dark and red fruits all over the place and spices from the wood.
Let's wait around 30 min. Aeration did the trick last time. And again... More fruits (fig, raisin), spices but more civilized, dark chocolate, caramel, roasted nuts. Dry.
    • Finish
      Long, similar, drying.

At first one senses the 62% clearly. Then there are aromas of cherry, blueberry, cranberry, blackberry, chocolate and malt.

The very long finish is the real highlight of the whisky. Dark fruits, nut chocolate, malt, then red fruits, bittersweet.

Nice and full but laks complaxity. Compared with Bruichladdich 2003 #543 I prefer the #229.
    • Nose
Earthy, syrup, raisins and dark forest fruits - brambles and raspberries.
    • Taste
Forest fruits, pepper, malty and apple. Less distillery character than #229 and more 'closed'.
    • Finish
Earthy, syrup, some tobacco leafs and vanilla - custard.

Imperative water to fully appreciate it.

A nice nose dry sherry, slightly sulfur, with nuts and a hint of tobacco.

In the mouth, after adding water, we have a rather greedy malt, with dried apricots, rubber, good caramel and always this dry sherry. A small menthol note closes the ball.

The finish is long, quite bitter (walnuts) with a rubber tip.
To regouter after aeration of the sample.
