  1. ctu scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

A surprisingly tasty whisky from a young refill hogshead. Cask Stength works very well.
    • Nose
Complex. Mainly forest fruits, caramel, honey, oak, spices, flowers. Boat varnish and engine oil.
    • Taste
Powerful. Wonderful combo of sweet fruits (especially orange), piquant spices and matured oak.
    • Finish
      Long, but dry, oaky, spicy.

A harmonious Glenfarclas with neat "Bumms" in the taste. The nose is multi-layered and characterized by many different fruit nuances. Taste, the alcohol unfolds its full power. A relatively young but very delicious Glenfarclas from a Refill Hogshead. I like it very much!
    • Nose
Strong and radiant amber makes my heart beat faster. Intense dark berry aroma permeates a strong alcohol note, tough streaks run back into the glass leisurely while the nose unfolds its full fruitiness. Apples, oranges, raisins, apricots and nuts mix with sweet caramel and honey. The alcohol is now very well integrated despite 58.6% and supports the fruit flavors. A touch of leather and butter biscuit is added.
    • Taste
At the first sip, the power of the alcohol becomes noticeable. Spicy woody aromas and sweet fruit are quickly overshadowed by alcoholic sharpness. Slowly the sharpness stops and a dry mouthfeel arises. Creamy and then suddenly dry, the second sip pours over the tongue, light biting arises, again comes a touch of leather to light. A few drops of water make the Glenfarclas smoother and more fruity.
    • Finish
With a pleasant sharpness under the tongue starts the finish. Dry wood and walnut shells, tart oak tones and now even more pronounced leather flavor make the beginning of the season come into their own. The fine, tart aroma remains in the mouth for a long time.

I like weird whiskies. I usually give bonuspoints for weirdness. But even for me, this is a bit too much. I kind of think this was a tainted sample.
    • Nose
Furniture polish, varnish. Grapes. Cedar Wood. Flowers. Full nose, very rich. Something chemical, parfume? No hairspray! hmmm :/
    • Taste
Whoah! Full on chemicals in your face! More hairspray, old spice, lighter fluid. Still the varnish. Grapes as well. Reminds me of aged grappa.
    • Finish
      Yes... Hairspray

Ohh boy, ohh boy! What an intense and lush whisky! It needs some aeration time and warmth but your patience is rewarded by deep and rich layers of aromas. Sadly, for all you whisky lovers outside the Netherlands, this is only available in NL

This is a bang for you buck whisky!!
    • Nose
A rich, full, powerful and balanced whisky with aromas of lush sherry, sultanas, forest honey, liquorice root, caramel, toffee, dried fruits (dates, figs, plums, peach), fudge, bitter orange marmalade, varnish, apples, pear, pineapple, passionfruit, rosewood, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, clove, coffee beans, chocolate, hint of leather, old tea and pick oak.
    • Taste
A powerful, rich, full and complex whisky with aromas of pepper varnish, lush sherry, suppler, sultanas, marzipan, dried fruits (dates, figs, plums, apricots), lemon oil, orange zest, cinnamon, pepper, cloves, chocolate, allspice, cedar wood, tobacco, coffee beans, toffee, treacle, fudge, dark caramel, antique polish, beeswax, tannins, old oak, leather, bayleaf and liquorice root.
    • Finish
A long, spicy and slightly drying finish with aromas of pepper, backing spiced, dried fruits, coffee, forest honey, bitter orange marmalade, tannins, antique polish, chocolade and spicy oak.
