The nose is wonderful. Fruity sherry, apricots and oranges play together. The taste is dominated by spicy oak, the fruity nose is unfortunately not much to taste. On the whole a very harmonious Glenfarclas. I like it very much!
    • Nose
Thanks to 1st Fill Oloroso Sherry Butt intense sherry in the nose. Fine apricot aroma mixes with the fruity sherry. Orange aromas are added, the nose is wonderfully fruity. The alcohol is wonderfully integrated in spite of ü-60% and starts to tickle very slightly in the nose until very late.
    • Taste
Wow, fruity sherry, then spicy oak notes. The oak becomes more and more intense, tickling and biting in the complete mouth. After a little bit of water, again briefly fruity sherry, then again spicy oak. The taste is now softer and more harmonious. Spicy oak aroma now dominates the taste.
    • Finish
Again this spicy oak, some fruit lies over the oak. Slight pungency and a hint of pepper follow the wood aroma. Slightly bitter aroma develops. A full-bodied nut aroma develops and finishes the finish with "old" walnut.

Without water 87 - with max 85 - makes 86, you can drink it quite well without water - I think you should - I wouldn't buy it anyway
    • Nose
      88 88
Walnut tree leaves, tree of life, nut flour, cherry jam, raspberry pulp, polished wood, furniture polish

a drop of water makes it discreetly fruity but also more acidic, red sparkling wine, red and white currants - all in all, water does not get it so well in the nose - it loses volume
    • Taste
      86 86
fruity - dark red - red groats, grated dark chocolate with 85% ++ cocoa, a hint of balsamic

On the palate, water brings nut and chocolate to the front - there is a juniper note that is on the border to the metallic / oily bad note and that becomes clearer with every sip and turns into a negative for me
    • Finish
      84 84
quite dry - dark cinnamon chocolate - fresh herbaceous astringent green walnut shell - still chocolatey but unfortunately also somewhat metallic

    • Nose
Strangely enough, this reminds of grappa at first, before other fruity notes take over, such as orange custard and lots of apricots. There are some sultanas here too. Somewhat prickly, but that is to be expected at this high an alcohol percentage. Not the most complex, but very inviting.
    • Taste
Quite fruity and spirit driven, which I like. The cask influence is subtle, and I can't help but wander to grappa again, with notes of pineapple, grapes and lychee. Quite vegetal too. Finally a hint of eucalyptus.
    • Finish
Vegetal notes mainly. Different and interesting.

Heavy in its alc, but its not dominated. Very good this Family Cask.
    • Nose
      Intense sherry notes, aprico,orange.
    • Taste
Sherry fruit with oaky herb notes, lovely sweetness of sherry notes.
    • Finish
Long and lovely, you can take this 60%

The 1st sherry barrel selected in the spring of 2015 by the Glenfarclas / van Wees team for the exeptional quality and full taste
    • Nose
1 Fill Oloroso Sherry Butt intense sherry nose. Fine apricot aroma mixes with the fruity sherry. Orange, the nose is deliciously fruity. The alcohol is beautifully involved despite over 60% intercepted very late on something tickling in the nose.
    • Taste
Wow, fruity sherry, then spicy oak nuts. The oak is getting more intense, and tickling in full mouth. After some addition of water, again short fruity sherry, then spicy oak. The taste is now softer and harmonious. Spicy oak aroma now dominates the taste.
    • Finish
Again, this spicy oak, slightly sharpened and a hint of pepper follows the woody aromas. A slightly bitter taste is created. A full aroma of walnut is produced.
