- Although the finish is okay but comes at the end of an indefinable taste that does not fit into a single malt. Too bad. But for the age he is respectable, we are curious what is still to come.
- For 3 years, this whiskey tells a lot about what is certainly due to the barrel experiment. But as with the Nova, the potential is clearly visible. It has created the basis here produce good quality whiskeys. I'm looking forward to the upcoming, older bottlings - 13.05.2017
Smoke, cereals, malt sweetness, warm campfire, spicy-aromatic, light bacon and smoked aromas, salt maritime, hazelnut, iodine, fruity wine aromas, tobacco
Smoky, dry, sorrel, slightly maritime, ginger, tobacco, spicy-sweet, soy sauce
- Nose a little expressionless. Some dried fruits and some peat. The mouth lacks a little kick, but the almond / peat association works.
- Here too I can only say that Puni has great potential. The Brennereicharakter interacts beautifully with the Fassaromen. This malt would have potential to a real hit, but just in the mouth, the individual facets are a bit uncouth, but not unpleasant. The next few years can bring great things here.
Surprisingly dark-fruited and difficult at the first start. Raspberries cooked with sugar, ripe dark apples and dark forest honey. The Marsala barrels bring vinous sweetness and spice into play. But there is more: A tender, earthy smokiness is from the beginning of the game. The basic character of Puni with its malty sweetness and cereal notes is still noticeable. Great! The malt needs a few minutes in the glass to overcome a slightly juvenile alcohol.
Like Batch 1, the mouthfeel is pleasantly soft. But after only a few moments, it becomes clear: the Marsala and ex-Islay barrels have brought a very different malt into the glass here. Significant smokiness, moist soil, maritime salinity, black pepper and strong oak tannins set the pace. Blackberries and dark honey are there, but lose the strong and slightly coarse flavors.
Medium long and clearly marked by soft smoke and sea aromas. Surprisingly, this impression quickly gives way to sweet berry fruits, malt sweets and vanilla.
- Bella Italia meets Islay? I am not quite convinced. This first
Italian single malt shows nice flavours of fruit, wine and malt, mixed
with delicate spices from the casks. The slow but constant increase of
the spiciness is very satisfying here. However, it seems to need more
time to iron out some rough edges of the new spirit and infuse it with
more complexity. A bit strange and not entirely my taste. Looking
forward to seeing how this single malt ages.

Quite fruity on the nose with raspberries and vinous aromas. This is
complemented with a gentle touch of perfume and an sweet malt profile.
With time subtle peaty flavours emerge with tobacco leaves and cloves.
Youngish with hints of new make, but improves after a while.
Bold and boisterous. Decent fruity sweetness followed by gentle spice of
pepper, cloves and oak. The spiciness becomes more powerful with time,
complemented by dark honey and sugary sweet malt. There's a smoky and
peaty touch with a maritime edge towards the finish.
The finish shows a medium length with a mix of sweet and fruity notes. Warm with gentle peat smoke and a slightly salty end.
WITH WATER: There's not too much change on the nose with water. On the
palate, there's more fruit with luscious oranges coming through,
complemented by an increasing amount of spiciness. The finish is medium
long and dry with warm spices fading towards the end.
A sweet, slightly sour, fresh and balanced whisky with aromas of dry white wine, a hint of smoke, earthy tone (damp cellar), spices (pepper, cloves, nutmeg, anise, caraway seed), dried plums, fresh figs, varnish, beechwood, sultanas, fresh oak, tangerine zest, grass, hay, white wine and pencil shavings.
A soft, sweet, woody, and spicy whisky with aromas of licorice root, fresh oak, spices (cinnamon, anise seeds, caraway seed), angelica root, dark honey, fresh herbs (bouquet garni), almonds, hint of dried fruits, marzipan, cereals, grain, icing sugar, dry white wine, soft tannins and fresh oak.
Medium long and spicy finish with aromas of dried fruits, fresh oak, wood sap, chili pepper, white pepper, fresh grapes, soft tannins and a hint of tangerine zest.
Certainly more challenging flavours than the Nova expresion. The Marsala casks have brought some more spices and dried fruits in to the game. But it still needs a lot more time in the cask to really make an impact. Again it’s got potential and I’m quite curious how this expression tastes what it has spent 15 or 18 years in a good marsala cask.
- There is not much yet, he is promising. The barrel selection makes the drop already interesting, but here are just three years.
Pear, some peach and actually Islay smoke. This is joined by malt. Later iodine, salt and mineral notes.
Still pretty sprightly, very dry.
In the finish, it warms well and in the end then even a little fruity sweet, pears are again, WilliamsChrist pears to be exact.
