    official information:

The Glenturret Peated Edition exclusively combines both our unpeated style of Glenturret spirit with our heavily peated style of spirit known as Ruadh Maor. This expression delivers definitive smoke and light spice aromas before developing into an array of maturing fruit and smouldering peat flavours on the palate. This edition is crafted in small batches at Scotland's Oldest Working Distillery with less than 60 casks hand selected to create this unique dram per batch. This exclusive bottling sublimely incorporates smokey and sweet together in a rare addition to our Glenturret range of Scotch whiskies.

Tasting Notes by The Glenturret's Master Whisky Maker Bob Dalgarno:

    Appearance: Pale Lemon Gold

Aroma: Peat smoke entwined with thick citrus fruits. A layered whisky which teases the nose on all levels. A definite smoke note that drifts in intensity to show toasting from the cask yet the richness of burning peat in an open fire. The resident toffee apple is playful yet respectful. Clean oak runs almost parallel throughout but is understated. Some vanilla and light spices appear almost late

Taste: Sweet and spice, vanilla is thicker yet works well with maturing fruits, akin to a bowl of fruit. Ginger flits in and out, almost in a bed of peat. The peat is subtle initially but develops depth with a hint of smokiness. The oak itself is very soft reminding us of the importance of the distillery spirit and the peating importance

Finish: Mouth coating, soft and smokey

This is eminently quaffable. Good entry level malt for people who are new to peat. Anyway, in my book, this is the best of the three new NAS releases.
    • Nose
Wonderfully creamy nose with a nicely smoky jacket, but silky soft. Pink Lady apples, honey biscuits, nuts and some milk chocolate, wrapped in soft notes of tar and jute. Even some candied sugar emerges. This is actually quite pleasant!
    • Taste
It is pretty soft on the palate, but less sweet than the nose made you expect. It even becomes quite brackish. The honey biscuits turn into sweet malt, while the fruit evolves towards butterscotch. The spices are quite feisty.
    • Finish
The finish is fairly long, but with some pepper at the sweet death.
