  1. ffmdino did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

    I liked it
    an "old" style sherry malt
    • Nose
sour cherries, brown sugar, sherry (heavy, old), slightly raisins, sweetness, old oak, bast/hay, tart berries, liquorice, slightly salty, minimally musty, slightly mineral

with water: sweeter, vanilla, gummies, slightly cheesy, a note I can't name, late dry leaves from the tree
    • Taste
      full, oily, creamy
Tart berry mix, old oak, tart, old sherry, the alcohol tingles a bit, chocolate ~70%, slightly bitter, spicy

with water: soft, tart sherry!!, very spicy, eraser, tart chocolate ~65%, minimal ash
    • Finish
      long
slightly oak, sherry, very tart!!, chocolate ~75%, slightly spicy

      with water: very spicy, shorter

      astringent on the tongue

  2. wncvirus scored this whisky 92 points Expert Senior

Nose: Old sherry scent, sweet chocolate notes with cherries and fruit
Taste: Perceptible notes of sheery, super balanced on the tongue. There is also a slight dryness, ideally suited to the taste. Also noticeable notes of chocolate in the taste.
Rating: 90 | 100 - medium-long finish with quite strong touches of aged sherry. I can recommend the items with a good conscience. Worth a try!

Fine part. Needs time and air and attention and hand warmth and and and. So I want to be pampered, but then very rewarding.
    • Nose
      91 91
Only after a long time does the ostensible alcoholic presence evaporate.
Then it appears very clean: elegant sherry aromas, oranges, furniture polish, cherry candy, walnut shell. With warmth, a few nice barrel notes come to the fore
    • Taste
      91 91
Nice oily start. Strong from alcohol and barrel influence.
Salty, leathery, furniture polish, then sweet and sour, candied ginger, a bit of cherry candy. You can really taste the age and a bit of Bunna DNA shimmers through.
Can be enjoyed pure in small sips
    • Finish
      92 92
The finish is elegant again and the sweet and sour aromas linger for a long time.
Candied ginger again, a little salted water, orange sticks, good dark chocolate.

dense and rich whisky, perfectly balanced, a great option for a cool evening
    • Nose
      91 91
dense yet discreet, strawberry jam, dried fruit, raisins, damp skin, thick salty smoke in a country attic, menthol and vanilla
    • Taste

spices in dried fruits, dry and spicy, tart pear, persimmon, cherry in liqueur, quince, pomegranate juice
    • Finish
      90 90
dry, spices in warm raisins, old sherry and a pinch of salt and a drop of iodine in embers, long enough

great sherry Bunna, elegant and full-bodied:
nose: grandiose, cooked fruit, cooked apples, plum compote, cooked wine, candied orange gets better with the addition of two / three drops of water
taste: a traditional sherry but never cloying or boring, still cooked fruit, black cherries in syrup, a pinch of wood, cooked plums, apricots, with water it becomes wonderfully more oily, lots of wax, vanilla, candied orange
finish: medium long, a vegetable and citrus side
    I like it, great whisky!

    • Nose
      90 90
Precious, refined, sweet chocolate liqueur in an old, dusty decanter.. classic sherry notes with a floral twist (rose & lavender).. fresh wood polish.. fir tree resin.
    • Taste
      91 91
Bitter herbs and salted chocolate.. nutmeg.. wildflower honey.. toffee with, again, this clear sensation of a dusty, old age container that has left its indellible mark on the candy.. like the sweets i used to get in my grandparents’ village cornershop.
    • Finish
      89 89
Long.. sweet and salty.. with a tinge of happiness

Intense sherry nose, raisins, walnuts, pepper, cloves, dark berries - very good
    • Taste
      92 92
Oily, creamy, liquorice, nutty, spices, nutmeg, more black pepper, sherry wood, dried fruits, good sweetness, jam - great
    • Finish
      90 90
Long, warm, still fruity and little sweet, zesty, hints of rubber and leather, but also more on fruity juices and stuff - not bad

  20. Dramtastisch scored this whisky 92 points Expert Junior

    • Nose
      94 94
Creamy, milk chocolate, raisins, intense, light spicy notes and a subtle restrained oak flavor
    • Taste
      91 91
Sweet, creamy and mouth filling, caramel, chocolate and raisins again. Now the oak spice is more prominent, but this does not bother at all, the alcohol is well integrated.
    • Finish
      92 92
Very long-lasting and dry, the combination of oak and alcohol gives a light, but pleasant, pepperiness. Once again, the raisins and now a dark, dark chocolate chocolate come to light.

  21. LiquidThoughts scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Already a great sherry, if not quite my sherry-direction, because I miss a little exciting spice notes etc.
    • Nose
Fresh cocoa and chocolate powder, rum raisins, cherry compote, raspberry jam, licorice, camphor, ginger, a little frankincense, a lot of oak, but everything is reasonably restrained
    • Taste
The cherry compote, raspberries, grapefruit peel, liquorice, grated chocolate, dark chocolate, cherry pits, espresso, clear tannins, black tea, autumn leaves, walnut, dark malt, fine Bunna smoke, black cherry, nutmeg
    • Finish
Dry fruity, cherry kernels, dark malt, cinnamon, chocolate, medium to long

If only all Sherrydinger were like that =)
    • Nose
      95 95
Heavily horny sherry with raisins and chocolate, intense cherries, sweet strawberry juice, just a perfect Sherrynase, influence of Bunnahabhain you notice only discreet - but can also be imagination
    • Taste
      94 94
Pleasant and extremely fruity onset, many cherries and again strawberry juice, slightly peppery, very pleasant oak spice
    • Finish
      92 92
Fruity, sherrylastig, spicy, without being dry

  23. Kantenmechaniker scored this whisky 91 points Connoisseur

Am today under Kurznoteszwang ;-) A very successful whisky.
    • Nose
Great fruity nose, sweet, slightly bubbly, fresh, behind it some leather, a hint of caramel, cocoa, milk chocolate, some wood, creamy
    • Taste
full-bodied and intense, fruity, sherry, espresso, oak, not as sweet in the mouth as in the nose, slightly sour, a touch of dirt,
    • Finish
sweeter in the background, here again something effervescent, very pleasant, as if one would melt a shower-candy in the mouth

  24. Segens scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

Great dram and probably my best Bunna so far. Unfortunately no more available but I am happy that I was able to get 2 bottles which I shared.
    • Nose
dry sherry, nuts and green tea. alcohol perfectly implemented and very pleasant.
    • Taste
the taste is fantastic - dryness and fruitiness are playing ping pong and you have as well decent fruits as nutty influences. Lovely!
    • Finish
The finish could be longer but is very nice and pleasant.

http://kaypingers-whiskyblog.de/frontend/fullarticle.php?id=248 Color: Old Gold / Copper
Nose: Mild orange, leather, cream, a lot of smoky malt and sweet, waxy honey. In addition to the orange fruit, aromas of mango, star fruit, kiwi and passion fruit appear. The spice is pleasant and well integrated, wood is virtually unnoticeable, so that the fruit flavors and the leather dominate the nose. Class!
Taste: The spice is steep, powerful and powerful, sparkling fresh and now lined with pleasant wood. Nutmeg, salt and mint. The fruit notes are suppressed, only honey, sweet malt with light toffee and delicate chocolate notes represent the fraction in the sweet area.
Finish: Long - round and harmonious. The leather notes dominate and the integrated wood works here quite positively. The sweetness is watering down more and more.
Note: The nose and the taste are awesome! It's a pity he flattened something in the back.

The nose is awesome, the rest a prime example of bitter-sweet, without which one component wins the upper hand. A great Bunnahabhain!
    • Nose
Fruity, apricot jam, then sweet sherry, which is supplemented shortly afterwards by tart and leathery odors. Something fresh, vegetales is also there, like green section. Over time, the syrupy sweetness gains the upper hand.
    • Taste
Lots of sherry, slightly tart oak, old, a bit musty, but again the sweet, fruity aromas of sherry that enrich the malt. Chestnut honey, strong, intense, and towards the end wins the oak.
    • Finish
These tart oak flavors accompany the finish, bitter-sweet between sweet sherry and tart oak.

  28. pianoman scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Licorice and a trace of lovage. Old raisins with some salt. Leather, dry tree bark, boardwalk. Vanilla, a trace of glue. Gingerbread spice, orange peel.
    • Taste
Oily, slightly peppery. Sweet sherry with some peach. Then
mild dark chocolate, walnut, sweetened black tea and Moroccan mint. Long, slightly sticky.

  29. Gloin scored this whisky 91 points Expert Senior

A nice classic smell of sherry whisky, without being overweight, ripe, but still alive. Also in the mouth a convincing blend of maturity and vivacity, of sherry and the original whisky. The finish pleases with the tingling on the tongue. Mature, but not too barreled. Only the filthiness of a Bunnahabhain he misses something.
    • Nose
Apricots, cream sherry, tree bark, solvents, some orange in the background, a light sour freshness, wood, spicy, but not dominant
    • Taste
Sherry, dark red apple, some chocolate, orange peel, oak, but hardly bitter,
    • Finish
Oak, baked apple, a hint of cinnamon, the tongue is occupied and vibrates from the memory, chocolate, not quite whole milk, not quite bittersweet

  30. ASWhisky scored this whisky 91 points Connoisseur

a very pleasant to drink and easy to read Bunna
the special is this tingling shower feeling in connection with the dark matte aromas
I really like him 91 out of 100 points
    • Nose
Sherrynussig, smooth, cool, a touch of nail polish, stale hair spray, warm tea smoke in the background, nut and sherry
    • Taste
      silky smooth start
on the tongue the smoke and the force swells up
powerful without a single sprightly note
      very beautiful
dry nutty sherry, dark fruit with chocolate behind
the smoke is like chocolate powder
      dull and velvety
Smoke on the palate smells a little peat and a lot of chocolate powder
    • Finish
      long
      chocolate
      Tingling like chocolate
      dark velvety fruit
      nutshells
      very nice and delicious

    What
to say? This comes close to perfection for a heavy sherry influenced whisky,
which is not my favorite style of whisky, but can certainly appreciate it
(especially this one). I’m very glad the Bunna profile is still present, which
is often not the case with heavily sherried Bunna’s from the late 80’s/early 90’s.
    • Nose
      Instantly
satisfying. Sweet, dark sherry notes. Caramel, crème brûlée, dark choclate.
Some nuts in there as well, I’m thinking almonds. Come to think of it, this
nose reminds me of a well known coffee liqueur (Disaronno). Absolute plus for
this nose is that there is still enough bite from the spirit. This
one still carries noticeably the Bunnahabhain profile (cherries, slightly
      salty, character).
    • Taste
      At 53.7%
this whisky has a very nice body, very warming in the mouth. Somewhat more
nutty in the mouth. I can’t get the Disaronno out of my head, but believe me:
this is better. In the mouth oaky flavors are becoming present, I didn’t notice
that in the nose. Very sweet, warming dram.
    • Finish
      Long
with hints of almond, coffee and oak.

Great! Very old and powerful, but not overloaded. The sherry influence is noticeable but not intrusive. At the same time he experiences in the aroma and in the taste an interesting change from the stormy-salty Bunna character to sweetly fruity barrel influences. The age is very noticeable with herbs and oak. Great Bunnahabhain, which I personally would like to enjoy without water though.
    • Nose
Paff! This is Bunnahabhain as I like it! Direct salt, sea, pepper, wooden board, jetty and really strong! The fresh sea breeze is interrupted by slightly sweetish fruits and caramel. Now the malt begins to wander on the ridge between spicy barrel influence, the distillery character and sherry influence. Honey, strong oak, red berries, salt, a nice hike is that, coffee, fresh slightly tart herbs, sparkling red apple, cane sugar, tobacco. In the second Naser sweeter with more sherry and caramel.
    • Taste
Spray! right strength, salt, pepper, oak, berry fruit, again apples. Now it is sweeter, here is the Sherry influence stronger, again bitter herbs, honey. With a drop of water much sweeter and creamier, but the power passes quickly
    • Finish
Hmmm, oak, cane sugar, coffee, herbs, dark chocolate, less salt, leather, tobacco, frankincense. He stays long and creamy with sherry, very nice warming, a hint of smoke

A great old Bunnahabhain! The nose invites you to dream, the taste is characterized by an incredible strength and power. In the finish the extreme mixture of leather, tobacco and a hint of smoke enthuses. A great and complex whisky which whets your appetite for more!
    • Nose
From the first moment on, a pinch of sea air is noticeable. Salty spray beats on the old musty wooden footbridge. The salt water flushes a variety of flavors from the wooden beams. Dark berries, candied apples, moldy leather and a hint of smoke pour from the salty wood. A subtle pinch of pepper, or sharpness is added while fruity sweetness and spicy wood play together. An incredible aroma whets the appetite for more.
    • Taste
Violent and extremely spicy woody aromas dominate the first sip. A load of salt and pepper explodes in the mouth and brings out the salty wooden bridge from the nose to full advantage. Slowly the unbelievable force dies down and the salivation is massively stimulated. The addition of a few drops of water makes the Bunnahabhain appear much smoother and softer. However, the salty and spicy note can not be suppressed and alternates with the spicy wood flavors. While the sharpness dies away, a great old leather aroma is created which mixes with dark espresso powder. Here and there dark berries appear.
    • Finish
The finish begins with a bitter and slightly bitter leather note. Spicy wood penetrates through the great mixture of leather, tobacco leaves and a hint of smoke. For a long time the finish exudes a chubby and wonderful mouthfeel. In the end, this extreme leather and tobacco blend remains.

    • Nose
mineral sea breeze impregnated with sherry welcomes me! then herbs and apple. A touch of smoke, with nutmeg, black pepper and slightly caramelized sugar syrup
    • Taste
Oak, ginger and black pepper burn on the tip of the tongue, salivation without end, it gets warm in the mouth, as you notice the power of 53.7 Vol%. This is joined by leather and sweetened, slightly bitter coffee and cocoa. With a little water, the sweetness increases, the bitter notes are pushed back. Now I have some dark berries and tobacco
    • Finish
Very long, warming, black pepper, spicy oak and espresso.

    • Nose
Very idiosyncratic, violet-sweet-cotton-candy-sugar-brown-sugar- slightly mineral, earthy
    • Taste
nice oily nice espresso note, the oak pushes nicely
    • Finish
      long and salty.

    Brilliant part, whopping 92 points.

The notes come from an online chat tasting, in which I had to endure a tough fight with the keyboard, so it's all a bit poor.
The notes will be supplemented on occasion after another tasting.
    • Nose
Sherry, brackish water, mineral notes and nuts, green herbs. After confessing something, I first have gingerbread in my nose, very soft smoke, definitely brown sugar. I warmly doused dried fruits with salted, melted butter.
    • Taste
In the mouth, it really starts, Kosistenz waxy, almost solid, power development gentle and slow but powerful. With a little water, he gets even saltier, when he is so beautiful. Otherwise, all flavors from the nose are found in the taste in principle.
    • Finish
The finish is very long, initially salty, nutty at the end.

A very good sherry barrel makes for a great Bunnahabhain.
    • Nose
The first thing in my head (or nose) shoots: Frankincense! Can that be? In addition spicy sherry, caramelized cane sugar. Leather and tobacco. Mighty oak. The spices are strong and penetrating. Next to yeast. Sweet and hard, as befits such a classic car.
    • Taste
Oh yes, great start. Strong sherry with strong oak. Very full and viscous creamy. Fine-sour fruit notes (not quite ripe plums?), Cranberries, dark chocolate. Mild-spicy tobacco. Slanting sunlight from an afternoon sun draws the last notes of game from a leather armchair drawn by the years.
    • Finish
The finish is long, fine dry, sour-fruity and very well balanced oak-accented.

  49. Noface83 scored this whisky 90 points Specialist

Nose: earthy, dirty harbor air, heavy sherry, brown sugar, a hint of smoke, lots of herbs and old oak wood With water and time, the beautiful opens up becomes fruity and sweeter. But also a little more pepper is now in the nose.
In the mouth then aromatic oaky. Full and strong. The oak is very dominant with leather, coffee and roasted aromas. Water conjures up a wonderful sweetness. Very long remains in the finish and shows his age right now. A divine finish especially after a few drops of water.
Very large cinema but unfortunately a bit steep in the price.

    • Finish

  52. art-bett scored this whisky 92 points Expert Senior

Excellent barrel, which Corinna and Dietmar from Alba Import have selected. This sherry whisky has everything I expect from a 27 year old whisky of this age. 92 points

  53. EarlMobile scored this whisky 85 points Expert Junior

Very good old Bunna. Beautiful interplay of sweet sherry and wood notes, the sweetness predominates. This lingers then even longer in the mouth.
