Nose: apricots, dried fruit, a little sherry, citrus fruit, slightly wax.
Taste: From the first sip, you can feel the fruit in the form of apricots. In addition, a bit of citrus and a slight metallic taste. Slightly warming up in subsequent approaches.
Rating: 89 | 100 Quite long finish with a citrus flavor. Good whisky. Interestingly made of the flavors of dried fruit.

Plenty of fruit coming through the clean sherry, with classic BN toffee, nuts and mocha, and soft herbal spice on the finish. In contrast to some of the heavier versions, this is a bright and vibrant example of the '96 BN sherry profile.

What finesse! What a delicacy. A dominant of very pleasant and subtle almond oil.

I had already tasted this whisky in a context less favorable to note taking a year ago, but I did not recognize it, and I had no memory.
    I went there blindly.
It's a near-revelation for me. I have completely missed this distillery, and I like to like this austere style. Enthusiasm 5/5
    • Nose
At first, moldy, old cellar. It's dirty, it's young. Lemon, vegetal notes. We are now moving quite clearly towards grapefruit. The more time passes, the more mature it is. I now have notes of frangipane.
    • Taste
Lively, it has relief, sometimes evokes stone. Bitter, austere, but never too much, and what's crazy is that I think I like it!

Good drinking strength, not the most complex malt, but delicious!
    • Nose
Fasssherry, some sulfur, tea, plum, pickled apples & pears, the nose is already top and strong ...
    • Taste
Dry plums, lemon, nice mixture of sour and bitter, a lot of dark toffee, tea, spices very fine and a hint of dry oak and sulfur
    • Finish
Oak, light spice and a few plums remain, medium in length

Well, at first this seems like a loss: just caramel and sulphur. Let it open up (water is not necessary), and you'll be rewarded with old school tropical fruit and damp, earthy notes.
    • Nose
Quite closed and monotonous with a combination of sulphur, damp earth and caramel. Yet, wait 15 minutes, and you'll be rewarded. Caramel is still there, but now there is more. Tropical fruit, red sweet apples, soft wood, walnut, cinnamon and a hint of smoke.
    • Taste
It gets seriously fruity now! Passion fruit, pineapple and mango. Next to that, still the apple, some earthy tobacco and smoke, marzipan, mint and just a pinch of pepper. This makes me think of old Springbanks and old Glen Gariochs.
    • Finish
It's a long finsih, still on the fruity side. Some wood-driven spice joins, with mint and oily notes.

    • Nose
Goji berry, toffee, leather and apple. With water there's a shift to blood orange.
    • Taste
Goji berry, toffee, cocoa, apple, leather and a touch of sulphur. With water more nutty.
    • Finish
Caramel, cocoa, goji berry and salt.

quite a special Ben Nevis and to be honest I think it is even my first that I have ever had not many yet. Very well made dram which is fully worth its money (140€ - 03/2016)
    • Nose
A bit of Slibowitz plums, oranges, pepper very fruity very complex but well balanced! Delightful!
    • Taste
Dry fruity of fermented plums a hint of lemon. Lovely!
    • Finish
The finish is reminding me so much on Slibowitz so probably I have a lot of plum parts in the mouth. And if you think of the ugly Slibowitz that kill your mind no I am talking about the real good stuff :-)

    • Nose
Strong notes of sulphured sherry are dominating the nose - very disappointing - it becomes more and more difficult to find sherry cask whiskies without any sulphur.

Furthermore there are aromas of tea and stewed apples. Notes of dried pears are coming up as well as herbal aromas.
    • Taste
Much better - the sulphur is less obvious than on the nose. Sweet, bold and oily on the palate. Toffee and liquorice are the dominating aromas. Spices are coming up. No fruitiness at all. Very tasty.
    • Finish
Long, with the notes of liquorice lingering on and a spicy aftertaste.
