3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 85.06 points

  1. Bosi scored this whisky 87 points Specialist

The whisky holds what the tasting notes promise. Sweetness and peat in combination give a very well balanced filling.
    • Nose
The nose offers a great blend of peat, honey, maple syrup and laurel. Later, crème brulée and a little salt are added.
    • Taste
The taste is the nose again. Honey and smoke combine with salt and ginger.
    • Finish
The long finish is dominated by the sweetness, especially the taste of caramelized ham.

lots of honey in the nose. the name truly fits. a rather explosive start in the mouth with peppery alcohol. then banana and other fruits. the finish is evolving very nice to a smoky salty ending. water is really advisable. with water Marshmellows are coming in the nose. really nice. the palate keeps very peppery. I think it needs a lot of air to breath before enjoying.
Really not a typical Caol Ila. and too hot to be cool.

    SMWS Tasting Notes

    Colour: Honey bunny

    Flavour Profile: Lightly peated

Sunshine all the way! Honey laced with saffron and turmeric drizzled over syrup pudding. Crème brûlée with baked banana and ginger cream. More heat developed with burning newspaper, hot flint and warm seashells. Short, hot and dry like gingerbread with olive oil and salted caramel. It opened up with water and exuded warmth. The panel imagined sipping American cream soda with fresh ginger sitting in the dunes of a links golf course in late summer. Smokiness appeared as warm brown paper and polished leather. They likened the finish to eating banoffee pie sitting in a heathery peat bog.

Drinking tip: It enjoyed some water to cool it down
